Happy National White Cat Day!

Today we’re celebrating those beautiful snow-white felines who somehow manage to leave their fur on everything except themselves.

Whether they’re sweet and snuggly, confidently running the household or giving you that classic cat look of judgment from across the room, white cats deserve a little extra attention today.

📸 Have a white cat in your family? Show them off in the comments, we’d love to see them!

Happy National Wildlife Day!

Today is a reminder to appreciate the incredible wildlife that shares our communities, backyards, parks and natural spaces.

At Animal Therapy Center, caring for animals is at the heart of what we do. While our patients may have a little more experience with couches, treats and belly rubs, we have just as much respect for the wild animals around us.

A few simple ways we can help protect local wildlife:

- Give wild animals plenty of space.
- Keep dogs leashed around wildlife and nesting areas.
- Never approach or attempt to handle an injured wild animal (contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator instead.)
- Keep our parks, trails and neighborhoods clean.
- Support local wildlife and conservation organizations.

Take a moment today to appreciate the animals living just beyond our own front doors.

Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

Today we’re giving a little extra appreciation to the orange cats who somehow manage to be sweet, mischievous, dramatic, cuddly and completely convinced they run the house and sometimes all at once.

From their big personalities to their unmistakable orange coats, ginger cats certainly know how to make themselves memorable.

Have a ginger kitty at home? Show them off in the comments! We’d love to see your favorite feline family members.

Happy National Holistic Pet Day!

Holistic pet care means looking at the whole pet, not just one symptom or one part of the body.

That can include veterinary care, movement and mobility, appropriate exercise, nutrition, mental enrichment, comfort and the everyday choices that help our pets feel their best.

At Animal Therapy Center, our goal has always been to support the overall well-being and quality of life of every dog who comes through our doors. Sometimes that means rebuilding strength. Sometimes it means helping maintain mobility. And sometimes, it simply means finding ways to help a pet stay comfortable, confident and active.

Today is a great reminder to look at the little things that contribute to your pet’s overall wellness.

🐕 Take the extra walk.
🧠 Add some enrichment or play.
💧 Keep them moving in ways that are comfortable for them.
🩺 Stay on top of their veterinary care.
❤️ And, of course give them a little extra love.

Here’s to healthier, happier pets from nose to tail.

August is Clear the Shelters Month.

Behind every kennel door is an animal waiting for someone to choose them.

Some have been waiting days. Others, weeks or even months. They don’t understand why they’re there; they only know they’re waiting for a home, a family, and someone to love.

Shelters and rescues across the country are working to help more animals find the homes they deserve.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to your family, consider visiting a local shelter or rescue this month.

You may walk in thinking you’re saving a life.
You might discover they save a little piece of yours, too.

• Adopt if you can.
• Foster if you can.
• Donate if you can.
• Volunteer if you can.
• Share and help spread the word.

Every adoption means one less animal waiting and one more pet finally going home.

Today, we’re thinking about the ones who are still waiting.

The dog curled up on a shelter floor who used to sleep beside someone.

The cat watching people walk past their kennel, wondering if this will finally be the day they’re chosen.

The animals found wandering, abandoned, surrendered or simply born into a world where there weren’t enough homes waiting for them.

They don’t know what International Homeless Animals’ Day is.

They just know they want to feel safe.

They want a warm place to sleep. A full bowl. A gentle hand. Someone who comes back tomorrow.

Behind every shelter statistic is a living, breathing animal with a personality, fears, quirks and an incredible capacity to love.

If you’re able, adopt. Foster. Volunteer. Donate. Share the animals who are still waiting.

And if your home is already filled with rescued paws, give them an extra hug today.

Because every animal deserves to know what it feels like to finally be home.

-An Update on Our Therapy Team-

We wanted to provide an update to our clients and community as we continue working through the temporary pause in evaluations and medical rehabilitation therapy.

Over the past several weeks, we have been actively interviewing candidates to rebuild our therapy team. We are happy to share that we are making progress and are currently moving forward with offers to qualified candidates.

While this is an encouraging step, there is still work ahead. Once positions are accepted, new team members will need time to complete onboarding and training so that we can confidently provide the safe, consistent, high-quality rehabilitation care our patients deserve.

For that reason, evaluations and medical therapy will remain temporarily paused while we complete the hiring and training process. We appreciate everyone's patience as we work through this carefully rather than rushing to reopen before our team is ready.

We are still looking to grow our team. If you are a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or know someone who may be interested in joining Animal Therapy Center and working in veterinary rehabilitation we encourage you to apply through our current Indeed posting and submit a resume.

Our Canine Fitness Club remains open for current members and for dogs seeking non-medical fitness services with a referral from their primary veterinarian.

We are encouraged by the progress being made and look forward to sharing more updates as our new therapy team comes together.

Thank you for continuing to support ATC during this transition.

Happy Spoil Your Dog Day!

As if we needed another excuse. 😂

Today is the perfect day to give your pup a little extra love, an extra walk, their favorite treat, a new toy, some quality couch time or maybe just a few more belly rubs than usual.

At Animal Therapy Center, we think every dog deserves to feel their best while enjoying all the things they love most.

So tell us… how are you spoiling your dog today?

Bonus points for pictures. We definitely want to see them.

Happy Assistance Dog Day!

Today, we recognize the remarkable assistance dogs who provide greater safety, independence, confidence and companionship to their handlers every day.

These dedicated dogs are more than loving companions; they are highly trained working partners whose focus can be essential to the person beside them.

When you see an assistance dog working, please remember:

- Give the dog space
- Avoid petting, calling to or distracting them
- Speak with the handler, not the dog
- Never assume someone's need for an assistance dog is visible

To every assistance dog, handler, trainer, puppy raiser and organization supporting these incredible partnerships: thank you for the life-changing work you do.
