🐾 Tuesday Tip! 🐾

Does your dog bark nonstop out the window at every passing person, squirrel, or delivery truck? While it may seem harmless, constant window barking can actually increase stress and anxiety for your pup.

Here are a few simple ways to help:
🐶 Reward calm behavior when they quietly look outside
🦴 Redirect their attention with toys or treats
🪟 Limit access to “watch windows” during busy times
🏡 Teach a “quiet” cue and reward them for listening
🚶 Make sure they’re getting enough exercise and mental stimulation

Remember — the more dogs practice barking at the window, the more it becomes a habit. A little training and consistency can go a long way toward a calmer home! ❤️

Join us in congratulating these four-legged graduated!👏 🎓

Graduation season wouldn't be complete without recognizing the four-legged graduates of our Blood Bank donor program. 👏 🎓

Stella, Gumbo, Molly and Wiley helped heal nearly 50 patients at the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital by donating 14.1 liters of plasma, whole blood and packed red blood cells. All four dogs belong to members of the CVM Class of 2026 who are jetting off to begin their careers.

🐾 Big news from Hope Animal Clinic! 🐾

We’re excited to share that we’re expanding with our very first satellite location—Hope Animal Clinic – Shelby!

📍 Conveniently located at 516 Highway 119 South in Alabaster, this new clinic will operate primarily by appointment, while still welcoming walk-ins. We’re also happy to have Dr. Trey Beck leading the way as the in-house veterinarian at this location.

This means you now have two great options for your pet’s care: continue visiting us at our Morgan Road clinic, or, if you’re in the Alabaster area or prefer a scheduled visit, you can call our Shelby location directly at 205-664-3462 to book an appointment.

We’re currently working on some exciting renovations at the Shelby clinic and can’t wait to share more updates soon… including plans for a special celebration once everything is complete! 🎉

🌮 TUESDAY TIP: Keeping the "Fiesta" Fun for Your Furry Friends! 🐾

Cinco de Mayo is all about great food and fun, but many party staples can be dangerous for our pets. Here’s how to keep your cats and dogs safe while you celebrate:
🚫 Watch the Menu: Keep guacamole, onions, garlic, and spicy salsas out of reach. These can cause everything from tummy upset to serious cell damage.

🍹 Skip the "Paw-ritas": Alcohol is highly toxic to animals. Even a small spill can be dangerous, so keep drinks on high counters and away from curious noses.

🍬 Hidden Hazards: Check labels for Xylitol (an artificial sweetener) in dips or desserts—it’s extremely toxic to dogs.

🎉 Create a Safe Zone: If your house gets loud or crowded, give your pet a quiet "VIP room" with their favorite bed, water, and toys.

🚩 Decor & Dress Up: Avoid uncomfortable costumes and keep an eye on electrical wires or string decorations that could be swallowed.

Poodles actually originated in Germany over 400 years ago as skilled water retrievers. Their name comes from the German word “pudelin,” meaning “to splash”—pretty fitting for a breed that loves the water!
