June is National Microchipping Month, and we want to help you take the best preventative steps to keep your best friends safe. While microchips are well-known for dogs and cats, did you know that we also microchip rabbits and other exotic pets?

However, getting the chip is only the first step! Registering your pet's microchip with your current phone number, address, and email is absolutely critical. Without proper registration, the chip cannot be linked back to you. We highly recommend using this month as a reminder to log into your registry and update your contact information.

Reach out to our team to schedule an appointment or to have your pet's chip scanned and checked or to get your pet microchipped!

Today, we pause to honor the beautiful souls who may no longer be by our side but will forever remain in our hearts. Our pets are more than just companions; they are the keepers of our secrets, the healers of our bad days, and the very definition of unconditional love. We find comfort in knowing that the bond we shared is not broken by distance, but simply transformed into a love that follows us wherever we go.

We remember the rhythm of their presence in the quiet details: the faint paw prints that eventually faded from the floors, the glass that stayed clear long after the last curious nose smudge was wiped away, and the stillness of a perch or enclosure that once held so much life.

Whether they greeted us with a wag, a chirp, or a gentle nudge, these unique companions taught us that love isn't defined by species, but by the connection we shared. Today, we celebrate the messy, beautiful legacy of every creature who taught us that family comes in all shapes and sizes.

Trivia Tuesday Giardia Edition Correct AnswerπŸ”¬:

The correct answer is B.

Giardia is not a worm or a bacterium, but rather a single-celled protozoan parasite that is microscopic, meaning it cannot be seen with the naked eye and without specialized equipment. Giardia can infect a wide range of animals, not just dogs, and because of its potential to be zoonotic (transmissible to humans), it is critical to maintain strict hygiene practices around any pet suffering from digestive issues. When Giardia infects a pet, the most common sign is persistent, foul-smelling diarrhea that may appear soft, pale, or unusually greasy due to poor fat absorption. Pets may also experience increased gas, bloating, or visible mucus in their stool. While some animals remain asymptomatic, persistent cases can lead to weight loss, lethargy, and a dull coat if the infection is not properly diagnosed and treated. Effectively managing Giardia requires more than just a quick prescription; it demands a comprehensive, multi-pronged strategy. Because this parasite is incredibly resilient and prone to causing environmental reinfection, we focus on a three-tier approach combining targeted medical therapy, environmental control, and strict hygiene protocols.
Crucially, because Giardia is a protozoan parasite rather than a bacterial infection, it cannot be cleared with standard antibiotics. Instead, it requires specific antiparasitic agents to be treated effectively. By combining this precise medical intervention with rigorous sanitation, we can disrupt the cycle of reinfection and help your pet return to full health.

Is your pet dealing with a persistent digestive issue? 🐾
Our team is here to help. If you've noticed any changes in your pet's health or stool quality, give us a call at 860-828-7736.
