We’ve done a treat sale drive for their previous K9 and donated for a vest. This is Apex and we always give him doggie treats every year at Christmas time.

K9 Apex is a three year old Belgian Malinois and is Berlin, NH Police Department’s (BPD) second ever police K9. He is currently the only patrol certified K9 in Coos County covering 1,830 square miles and a population of over 31,000.

K9 Apex is a very hard working and focused partner, always ready for what is next. K9 Apex is incredibly stable and civil both in his work on the streets and with the SWAT team. Since graduating his patrol school in the fall of 2023 Apex has had numerous deployments and narcotics finds with BPD, SWAT calls, and through mutual aid calls with other departments.

In 2026 alone he has located over 5 ounces of methamphetamine along with numerous smaller finds, and he has been instrumental in the safe apprehension of 13 suspects.

13 Weeks Until We Honor a Legacy That Changed Lives.

In just 13 weeks, we will gather to celebrate the lives of our founders, Eric and Sharon Loori, and the incredible legacy they created when they founded Freedom Guide Dogs in 1992. Their vision of providing professionally trained guide dogs at no cost to people who are blind or visually impaired continues to change lives every day.

While we continue to miss Eric and Sharon beyond words, we want our Freedom family to know that the mission they dedicated their lives to remains strong. Every day, their legacy lives on across our campus. Puppies continue to be born. Dedicated volunteers continue raising future guide dogs with love and commitment. Our trainers continue preparing dogs for their important careers. Guide dog teams continue to be matched, trained, and placed, giving individuals who are blind or visually impaired the gift of greater independence.

Their legacy is not only remembered. It is being lived every single day. Freedom Guide Dogs remains deeply committed to carrying their vision forward, ensuring that the lives they touched continue to inspire the lives we change tomorrow.

This is just terrible.

With profound sadness, we share the passing of our beloved Co-Founder, Sharon Loori.

Just six short weeks after saying goodbye to Eric, the Freedom Guide Dogs family is once again grieving an unimaginable loss. Together, Sharon and Eric founded Freedom Guide Dogs in 1992 with a vision of providing greater independence and opportunity to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Their compassion, determination, and unwavering commitment built an organization that has changed countless lives.

Sharon dedicated more than thirty years to developing Freedom’s breeding program, creating generations of exceptional dogs known for their intelligence, sound temperament, and loving personalities. Every Freedom-bred puppy, whether in the home of a volunteer puppy raiser, in formal training, or working as a guide dog, is a reflection of Sharon’s incredible legacy.

The impact of Sharon’s work extends far beyond our campus. Through the dogs she helped bring into the world, she has given independence, confidence, and companionship to so many. Her influence will continue to be felt for generations through every Freedom guide dog team.

We ask that you please keep Sharon’s children, her family, and the entire Freedom Guide Dogs community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Eric is the one who came here to train Alyssa with Xaverie and passed away unexpectedly while placing a guide dog with another client away from home. Now his wife is in the hospital and they have 2 disabled children.

It’s a sad day….. he helped us so much.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Eric Loori.

Eric dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the guide dog world. Before founding Freedom Guide Dogs alongside his wife, Sharon, 34 years ago, Eric worked with three other guide dog organizations, always driven by his passion for helping individuals who are blind and visually impaired achieve greater freedom and independence.

Eric had a heart for everyone he met. He deeply cared for every client Freedom Guide Dogs served and made it his life’s mission to help others gain confidence, independence, and opportunity through the gift of a guide dog. He also had a remarkable ability to work with individuals who had additional disabilities alongside blindness, helping people many believed could not be served successfully.

Through his compassion, patience, and dedication, Eric changed countless lives. He was more than a founder. He was a mentor, teacher, advocate, and friend whose impact reached far beyond our organization.

His legacy lives on in every guide dog team, every life changed through independence, and every person inspired by his unwavering commitment to others.

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we are also grateful for the extraordinary life Eric lived and the mission he built that will continue for generations to come.

We ask that you keep Sharon, the Loori family, our staff, clients, volunteers, and the entire Freedom Guide Dogs community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Hello out there. Yes we are still here. Been a busy past few months. I had a little health scare but it’s all good for now, tax season at my work was crazy and worked my other job at Edward Jones in between, Xaverie turned 11 and is doing well and Alyssa, well she’s been enjoying her doggie play dates with her uncle and his dog, making some creative doggie treats, volunteering in the community a bit and working on a healthy lifestyle by exercising and eating healthier. Always here for dog treat order requests anytime. 🐕‍🦺
