🦠 Leptospirosis in Berkeley Update: Safety at The Barkmont 🐾
You may have heard about the recent leptospirosis outbreak near UC Village, where rats and two dogs have tested positive.
What is Leptospirosis?
👉🏻A bacterial disease found in soil and water worldwide (per the AVMA)
👉🏻Not spread through the air
👉🏻Primarily transmitted by contact with the urine or mucous membranes of infected animals
What Are We Doing?
To keep our pups and people safe, we have implemented:
🐶Mandatory leptospirosis vaccination for all dogs in our program
(Need to check your dog’s status or make a reservation? Just send us an email!😉)
🐶Individualized water breaks for every dog—no shared water bowls!
🐶Enhanced disinfecting protocols throughout our center
At The Barkmont, your dog’s health is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as needed.
