Meet Blake! 🤍🐾

Blake is a Chow Chow currently living at the shelter. His beautiful coat was severely impacted and matted. The shelter staff did everything they could to remove some of the excess hair and make him more comfortable, but there was simply too much for them to manage.

I agreed to groom Blake at a discounted price if the funds could be raised through community donations—and this amazing community covered his entire groom in less than one hour! ❤️

After lots of patience and care, Blake is clean, fluffy and feeling so much lighter. Just look at that handsome boy!

🐾 Meet Blake—and wait until you see his transformation! 🐾

Blake is currently at the shelter, and when he arrived, his beautiful Chow Chow coat was severely impacted and pretty matted. The shelter staff had been doing everything they could to remove some of the excess coat and make him more comfortable, but there was simply so much hair that he needed a complete professional groom.

I agreed to groom Blake at a discounted price if the shelter could raise the funds through community donations—and thanks to this amazing community, his entire groom was covered in less than an hour! ❤️

Underneath all that impacted coat was this incredibly handsome boy! Blake was such a good boy throughout the process, and I know he has to feel so much lighter and more comfortable now. Just look at that sweet face and fluffy finish! 🥹🤍

A little honesty about owning a small business…

People sometimes assume that because I own my business and have relatively low overhead, I must be making a lot of money. The reality is very different. What the business brings in is not what I personally get paid.

By the time I pay rent, taxes, card-processing fees, grooming products, equipment maintenance, blade and shear sharpening, scheduling software, insurance, and all the other expenses involved, I barely make enough to cover my personal bills some months.

I understand that grooming is expensive and everyone has a budget. Clients sometimes question my prices or choose someone cheaper—and that is okay. But prices often reflect differences in experience, speed, product quality, equipment, education, and the level of care being provided.

A groomer who is newer to the profession may charge less while building experience and clientele. I was once at the beginning of my career too, and I sincerely hope those groomers learn, grow, and thrive. But after more than 15 years as a professional groomer and over 20 years of working with dogs, I am no longer at the beginning of mine.

My prices reflect the years I have invested in developing my skills, the quality products I use, the care I give each dog, and the knowledge that allows me to work safely and efficiently. Small-business ownership does not automatically equal wealth. Sometimes it simply means working incredibly hard, carrying all the responsibility, and hoping there is enough left over to pay yourself. 🐾
