Morgan County West Virginia Animal Control

Morgan County West Virginia Animal Control This page provides information on lost and found dogs, ordinances, and laws relating to Morgan County, WV. With limited staffing, we do not allow "walk-ins".
(1)

Our office hours are typically from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. If you are inquiring about adoption, reporting a lost or found dog, or for other general inquiries during the week, please call (304)-258-6363. For emergencies after hours and during the weekends, you will be directed to our dispatch center. An officer is available 24/7 for emergencies only.

Adoptions: adoptions are made by app

ointment only. All adoptions must be pre-approved via an adoption application. If you are interested in submitting an application for a specific dog, please email [email protected]. If you are unable to fill out the adoption application via email, please call our office and we will schedule a time for you to fill out the application in person.

Owner surrenders: when space permits we do accept owner surrenders. We are essentially a "no-kill" shelter, with less than a 3% euthanasia rate per year. A surrender fee of $75 is charged per owner surrender, especially in cases when the pet is unaltered and not vaccinated. Owner surrenders are by appointment only. Please contact our office if you wish to surrender your pet.

Cats: Unfortunately we do not generally pick up "stray" or feral cats. We make special accommodations for extremely ill or very injured stray cats when possible, and facilitate rescue pull or euthanasia if necessary. If you have a question about whether we can help with an ill or injured cat, contact our office. For healthy stray cats, or owner surrender cats, please contact a local cat rescue or the humane society.

Alright guys, we're a little disappointed.

We posted Miley and Juno over the weekend and they barely got any shares or post interactions. 🥲

We really rely on social media to place our dogs. Which means we rely on YOU guys.

The more shares and interactions our posts get, mean the more eyes 👀 see our dogs! This means they have a better chance of getting seen by their forever family!

Miley and Juno are two very deserving girls. There is no reason why they haven't found their forever homes!

They DO NOT have to be adopted together. They are NOT bonded.

Miley is the brown and white girl. She is very laid-back and generally well-behaved! She has tested well with other friendly dogs, and loves everyone she meets!

Juno is an incredibly sweet girl, however, she is more "hands-off". She loves to follow us around and will happily prance around the yard and kennels after us. She really likes other dogs!

Dog friendly ✔️
People friendly ✔️
Lower to medium energy ✔️
Medium to large size ✔️

If you're interested in either one of these girls, please reach out for an application!

If you're not interested in adopting, you can still help!

Help is urgently needed for Buster.

We were contacted by the sheriff's department after Buster's owner was found deceased in their home unattended for several days. There was no one that was able to take Buster, or his sister Comet in.

Buster has been with us since. We thought we had placement, but Buster is still here.

Unfortunately the last several days Buster has been super hissy and uncomfortable. Although he still let's us handle him, its obvious Buster is not well.

We're not sure if its the constant stress and anxiety, or if Buster has an underlying health concern that is causing him pain or discomfort. Honestly, it could be both.

Buster seems stable, but he needs a thorough vet work-up and he needs a quiet place to decompress.

Buster has been constantly licking his back/hind end. To the point he is tearing out massive chunks of fur.

It is not humane for us to keep Buster in this condition.

Buster needs rescue commitment by mid-week THIS WEEK. Otherwise, we will need to make a very difficult decision to help Buster find peace one way or another.

If you are with a rescue that can pull Buster by mid-week this week, please reach out to our office immediately.

We have updated Buster on his initial vaccines, and he appears to be a nuetered male. Buster is estimated to be around 9 years old.

Share, share, share! Let's get these girls HOME! 🏡💜

Miley and Juno are two SUPER sweet girls looking for their forever homes!

These two are sisters, and can be adopted together, but they are not bonded.

They are three years old!

Miley is around 40-45 pounds. She is the tri-colored girl!

Juno is around 50-55 pounds. She is the black and white girl!

Both girls are very happy-go-lucky dogs.

Miley is a very personable laid-back gal! She loves meeting new people. She has tested well with other friendly dogs.

Juno is very sweet, but less "hands-on". Juno LOVES other dogs. In fact, she would likely do better in a home with another dog to help show her the ropes.

If you're interested in either of these girls, please reach out to our office.

This dog has been spotted today off of Sandmine Road.

Two additional dogs have been seen sporadically. Both described as bully mixes. One mostly black with a large white patch on its chest.

Unsure if these three dogs are coming from the same home.

If you recognize this dog, or are familiar with the other two dogs, please reach out to our office.

This sweet girl was found near the end of Wi******er Grade Road.

She was in the roadway. We have received multiple reports over the last couple weeks of her getting into people's trash, and onto their porch to eat their pet's food.

She is thin and matted, and may have been missing for awhile.

If you recognize her, please call our office at 304-258-6363.

Check out Miley!

This sweet and personable girl is a hoot!

We LOVE her!

Its almost impossible not to smile when Miley is around. She's like a ray of sunshine! 🌞

Miley is a 3 year old mixed breed dog. We wouldn't even venture a guess. (She's a certified Morgan County Mutt, and probably has a couple dozen different markers in her DNA.)

She is around 35-40 pounds, so she's a medium-sized gal.

Miley lived with both of her sisters, but we will test her more thoroughly with other dogs this week! If you have kids you will have to bring them in for a meet and greet!

If you're interested in Smiley Miley, please reach out!
