🐾💙 OUR FIRST VOLUNTEER WORK WEEKEND WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!! 💙🐾

What a weekend! We asked our community to come out and help us get Snip & Tip of the Eastern Panhandle one step closer to opening - and you all absolutely showed up! 🥹🐾

🐾🐶Volunteers Needed for low cost Spay Neuter clinic coming to our area!😻

Are you excited for Snip & Tip of the Eastern Panhandle to open? Do you want to help make that happen? Then come and join us for a day or two of cleaning and painting!

STEP Board Members will be at our facility (located in Berkeley Springs) this Saturday and Sunday (10/3 and 10/4) from 9 am-5pm pushing to get ready for the floor installation in mid-October.

We have made some progress already. We completed the painting in the washer/dryer room, and the floor is getting installed there today! We needed to be able to get the washer and dryer moved out of the way so we could work in the rest of the building. This will be completed by this weekend, and we will be ready to move to the next stage.

We anticipate Saturday being primarily focused on cleaning. However, we do have one small room ready to be painted. The goal is for Sunday to be focused on painting.

Greetings on this lovely Labor Day Weekend!

We're making moves on our renovations and are in need of some supplies that some of you may have laying around. If you have any of the following items you could part with, please let us know:

--paint rollers: unused, for indoor latex paint, need ~10
--straight paint brush: unused, need ~5
--angled paint brush: unused, need ~5
--painters tape: 2" or larger, used ok
--putty knives: 1", 2", or 4", used ok
--drywall mud: open ok, but needs to be in good condition
--square drywall sanding blocks: need ~2
--angled drywall sanding blocks: need ~2
--2x4 lumber: need to be at least 20" long
--3" decking screws: unused

If you’re able to spay or neuter on your own and safely get your cat fixed now, please don’t wait for assistance. Spay or neuter every cat you’re able to - even one cat makes a difference.

🐈Already on a waiting list or receiving help from a rescue or animal welfare organization? We’re so glad you’re getting support! But if you’re able to cover a surgery yourself while you wait, you can seriously help those helping you, and prevent another litter from being born in the meantime.

ANOTHER AMAZING DONATION!

We want to send out a huge THANKS to Nick Williams for his generous donation of a nearly brand-new refrigerator and washer/dryer. This will save us hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. If we had to purchase these items ourselves, we would have gotten used appliance that weren't nearly as nice! Nick is not on Facebook, but if you know him, please give him a pat on the back. Victoria Sherbin, please thank him again for us!

New appliances were not designed with old houses in mind. We BARELY got these into the house. We had to take the doors off of all 3, and we still scraped up the door jam. We left with a few scrapes and bruises, but they're IN!

Experienced Drywall Repairman or Repairwoman Needed!

We are looking for someone experienced in drywall repair who would be willing to donate their time for a somewhat minor job, or someone who might provide a reduced/reasonable rate. We have several repairs needed, including a couple of holes and a handful of wall corners and window sills that need fixed.

Although we probably **could** do this ourselves, we know an experienced hand can make quick work of this task. We can do the sanding and will provide all necessary materials. Do any of our followers know of an animal-loving drywall pro? If so, send us a message! If not, please share and ask your friends and family!

Update on the flooring!

We successfully raised $669!! Thank you to everyone who donated!

If you missed last weeks update Clark's Home Furnishings in Berkeley Springs will be replacing the floor for Snip & Tip of the Eastern Panhandle! They very generously will be donating the majority of the materials via surplus flooring and trim.

To complete this vital step, we will need to raise $6,740. We aim to reach this goal by early to mid-October. Once the flooring is installed, the painting is completed

This flooring is essential to STEP getting up and running. We hope we aren't jinxing ourselves, but we aim to start doing surgeries in January 2027. This is a lofty goal, and we can't do it without your help!! Every dollar counts, and the more deep you can dig, the faster we can begin to help the cats and dogs in our community.

I know you all have been waiting for a way to help out and volunteer and here it is!! We need help removing the hold floor and fixing up the walls. No experience need but some experience preferred.

🐾❤️ HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY!❤️🐾

Today, August 26, we celebrate International Dog Day! This day is dedicated to honoring our canine companions & recognizing the unconditional love, loyalty, joy, and companionship dogs bring into our lives.

It’s also a day to raise awareness about responsible dog ownership, adoption, rescue…and the importance of giving every dog the chance to live a safe, happy, and loved life.

At Snip & Tip of the Eastern Panhandle (aka STEP), we know that dogs aren’t “just” pets. They’re family. They’re the ones waiting at the door, sitting beside us when we’re sad, making us laugh when we need it most, and leaving paw prints on our hearts that never fade.

Motivation Monday!

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Let’s start of the week with some cold hard facts about spay and neuter and why we are doing this!

- Approximately 6.3 million ​companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.1 million are do​gs and 3.2 million are cats.
- Each year, approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized (390,0​00 dogs and 530,000 cats).​

That’s a crazy number!! We are here to help reduce this number and to help end their suffering through spay and neuter. The more we spay and neuter the less homeless animals there are and the less shelters euthanize. Together we can make a difference!
