Well… this absolutely wrecked me today. 🥹
I don’t even really know what to say.
I just know that sometimes you can pour absolutely everything you have into something, for a really long time, without knowing if it’s actually making the difference you hoped it would.
And there have been some really long months where I’ve been tired, discouraged, questioning myself, wondering if I was still doing what I was supposed to be doing… and honestly thinking maybe I needed to disappear into the woods, hug a tree for a week and come back when I remembered how to be a person. 😂🌲
Then today I got this.
And I don’t want to take credit for the beautiful words someone else wrote about me. Those are theirs. But I do want to say how much they mean to me.
Because I don’t think people really realize how much of myself I’ve poured into this little business, especially during seasons when I didn’t have much to pour from.
I kept showing up anyway.
I kept loving these dogs anyway.
I kept trying to make them feel safe, seen, understood and loved anyway.
And today, for a moment, I got to see a little bit of what all those years of doing that actually meant to someone.
And man… that hit me.
Not because I suddenly think I’ve got everything figured out. I absolutely do not. 😂
But because after months of feeling like I needed to escape, rest, change something, figure something out, or maybe just scream into the wilderness…
I feel peaceful.
I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Not because everything is perfect.
But because somehow, after all the long days and hard seasons and moments where I wondered if any of it mattered, God has a funny way of putting the pieces back together at exactly the right time.
I think I’ve always known this was where I was supposed to be.
Today just felt like God reminding me.
Thank You, Lord. 🤍
And thank you to the families who trust me with your babies. You have no idea what you give back to me just by letting me be part of their lives. 🐾
🐾 A Message from Westley 🐾
There are exactly two humans I trust with my entire fluffy little heart.
Daddy is obviously number one. That position is contractually protected.
But Em? Em is very close.
She is kind. She is patient. She understands that sometimes I have big feelings, suspicious opinions, and a mouth that has historically been a little too involved in conflict resolution.
Em taught me something important:
Art is more therapeutic than biting the people who love you.
Apparently you can take all those feelings, smoosh them into paint, stamp your paws on paper, and create something beautiful instead of choosing violence.
Honestly? Revolutionary.
Now Tate and I have our own artwork hanging in PayPlace, right next to a picture of Em, because she’s part of our story too.
Thank you, Em, for loving me exactly as I am, helping me feel safe, and teaching me that paws are for painting.
Mostly.
Love,
Westley 🐾
