We will be out of state this upcoming week, unable to take any appointments.

We are heading down to Georgia for a veterinary conference to bring back the newest information so we can continue to give all the pups the best care 🩺

Enjoy Friday, our most recent boarding puppy, doing a great place stay!

Some of you may not know that in addition to our mobile buisness, I work full time in the ER.

The euthanasias are vastly different, from the circumstance to the conversations. They all take something out of you but in different ways; the traumatic ones being performed on an animal much too young to the old kiddos that have lived a wonderful life.

I still find comfort in knowing I am helping each pet the best way I can to end their suffering ❤️

The syringes on my desk today weren’t just medicine. They were an ending, held gently.

Some days euthanasia is quick. A quiet room, a peaceful goodbye, everyone ready.

Other days it’s hours long. Today was one of those days. Multiple patients, multiple families, multiple sessions that stretched on for hours.

Because here’s the thing people don’t always say out loud about this job: euthanasia is a gift we get to give. We get to end suffering instead of prolonging it. We get to make sure the last thing an animal feels is calm, not fear, in the arms of their favorite people in the world.

That is sacred work. I mean that.

But it’s also work that asks something of us every single time. Working emergency, we get to see families that are ready to say goodbye, but more often than not we have to help families through traumatic events and conversations, guiding them to make informed decisions on one of the hardest decisions they will make… saying goodbye.

In those long rooms today, I learned about a dog adopted the week someone’s daughter was born, now grown and leaving for college. A cat who was the last living connection to a husband who passed three years ago. A senior dog who was, in someone’s own words, “my only friend.”

People don’t just let you into the room. They let you into the whole story. You become a confidant, a grief counselor, a shoulder, sometimes literally, all in the span of one vet visit.

I love this part of my job. Genuinely.

And it costs something. Every time.

A few things I remind myself:

❤️‍🩹 Feeling wrecked after a hard euthanasia isn’t a sign you’re bad at your job. It’s the tax on being good at it.

❤️‍🩹 You are allowed to step outside for five minutes. Your team should know this is normal, not a red flag.

❤️‍🩹 Debrief with someone. Your team, a colleague, your person at home. Compassion fatigue grows in silence.

❤️‍🩹 Multiple heavy losses in one shift compound. That’s not weakness, that’s just how grief math works.

❤️‍🩹 It is okay to cry. In the bathroom, in the car, quietly, alongside them.

How do you take care of yourself after days like this?

Genuinely asking, because some days I’m still figuring it out…

As some of you all may know, we lost our 13-year-old Shepherd in February, just a week after her birthday. You also may have noticed we were pretty absent from our social media for the first part of the year as we grieved, sometimes just being in the animal world was hard. Myla was everything. She was with us from the time we were just teenagers and stayed by our side every step of the way – high school, undergrad, vet school, and starting my career. To know her was to love her, to hear her happy screams and smile. Words don’t do her justice; she was just that good. She was my heart and took a piece of my soul with her when she left, and that changed me to my core.

This year, we have been more focused on our in-home euthanasia services to help families say goodbye in the comfort of their own homes just as we did for our girl. It may sound weird to say that I like doing euthanasia’s but there is a sense of peace that comes from easing dogs’ pain, especially when that is the best thing I can do to help them. There is a peace in the personal setting of owner’s homes, for both the owners and their dogs. There is no scary last vet trip, no unfamiliar setting, just their bed they’ve laid on every day for their entire lives, surrounded by their people. I couldn’t imagine saying goodbye to my girl in any other setting and I want to be able to give that to others as much as I can.

Myla was such a huge part of this journey to making this business a reality. Without her, I am not sure I would even be a veterinarian today. We wanted to be able to still have her with us in a way and honor her through this business we are building. Devon had the idea to change our logo using an outline of her and we are so happy to have a piece of her to continue to share with the world. She truly was the best of the best and the world deserves to know her, in whatever way that may be.

Newest boarding pup, Encore, a 6 month old German Shepherd 🐾

This girly has been with us all week having the most fun getting all of the socialization. From a big outing to take dogs to groomers to cooling off with some water hose time. She has been a blast to hang out with!

We can’t wait until she gets to stay again!

We have been having so much fun with all of our boarding kiddos this past month! Lots of walks and outside play time with the nice weather.

Summer is the busiest time for boarding, with vacations and traveling for the humans but we still have a (very) limited number of spots open for boarding in July. Don’t forget to book as soon as possible!

Isn’t this how everyone’s vaccine appointments go? We think it should be!
Our goal is always to work in whatever way is best for each dog and decrease stress as much as possible. Vet visits should be fun not anxiety ridden.

Viper is historically a little jumpy and can sometimes be nippy when it comes to pokes. So we improvised because this man LOVES his belly rubs! He was a perfect gentleman for everything and got lots of treats at the end 🐾

🎆 New Year, New Routine — Setting Your Pet Up for a Great Start to 2025!

As we get ready to welcome a new year, it’s the perfect time to check in on your pet’s wellness routine. Small updates now can mean a healthier, happier year ahead:

• Review vaccine due dates and parasite prevention schedules.
• Refill medications so you’re not scrambling mid-winter.
• Refresh training basics like leash manners, “stay,” and polite greetings (especially after the holiday chaos!).
• Consider a January wellness visit for seniors or pets with chronic conditions.
• Switch things up with new training goals and plan.

Here’s to a fresh start, healthy habits, and a tail-wagging year ahead. Cheers to 2025 from all of us! 🐾✨
