Miss Flower is proving to be quite the service dog. There are a few disclaimers I always give about medical alert dogs:

1. I cannot guarantee they will alert.

2. Night time alerts are even more up in the air, because the dogs deserve to have a restful night and some may sleep too deep to notice those scent changes.

3. If we want/need overnight scent alerts, we will prioritize naps away from the human when available to promote good sleep quality, AND the dog doesn’t get to sleep in bed.

This is simply what I have found works best with my service dogs over the years through trial and error.

HOWEVER, Flower is showing us just how special she and her nose are. Flower is continuously beating her handler’s Dexcom and doing VERY persistent overnight blood sugar alerts. On top of this she is doing it FROM BED (or nearby, her choice).

I knew Flower was special when I started working with her. I just didn’t realize how special this girl truly is!!

Keep being amazing flower girl! Ps isn’t her handlers shirt so amazing?!

Handler update for service dog in training Bao Bao: “Bao Bao did so well today. I took him to the NWA community showcase. He saw other dogs there, lots of people, kids, dancers, etc. he was very calm throughout.”

Good job Bao Bao!!
