🐾 Friendly Reminder 🐾
Many pet owners and veterinary professionals throughout Northwest Arkansas have noticed an increase in respiratory illnesses affecting dogs in our area.
If your dog is coughing, sneezing, has nasal discharge, develops a fever, seems lethargic, or simply isn’t acting like themselves, please keep them home and avoid places where dogs gather until they have recovered or been evaluated by your veterinarian.
While these illnesses are often similar to a common cold and many dogs recover with rest, hydration, and supportive care, it is important to monitor for worsening symptoms. A persistent loss of appetite, signs of dehydration, increasing lethargy, difficulty breathing, or other concerning changes warrant a call to your veterinarian.
As our community continues to grow and welcome new residents, visitors, and their pets, the movement of dogs naturally increases the spread of viruses and bacteria. The best thing we can do is be proactive, monitor our dogs closely, and keep sick pups home so they can rest and recover.
