🐾 KITTEN SEASON IS HERE! 🐾

For the month of June, we're putting a kitten-sized twist on our popular "Why Cats Do That" series and turning it into...

🐱 WHY KITTENS DO THAT 🐱

If you've ever fostered, adopted, rescued, or been owned by a kitten, you know they come with a LOT of questions.

Why are they climbing the curtains?
Why are they attacking your feet?
Why do they suddenly sprint through the house like tiny maniacs at 2 AM?

With so many kittens being born and adopted during kitten season, we thought this would be the perfect time to answer some of the most common (and hilarious) questions about kitten behavior.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout June, we'll tackle a different kitten mystery.

And we're starting with one that every kitten owner knows all too well...

🐱 Why do kittens climb EVERYTHING?

Your curtains.
Your furniture.
Your cat tree.
Your pant legs.
And sometimes... your face at 3 AM. 😹

The answer is actually pretty simple: kittens are born explorers!

In the wild, climbing helps young cats stay safe from predators, find good vantage points, and build the strength, balance, and coordination they'll need as adults. Even though your kitten may never have to hunt for dinner or escape danger, those instincts are still hardwired into their tiny little brains.

Climbing also helps kittens:
🐾 Burn off energy
🐾 Build muscle and coordination
🐾 Satisfy their natural curiosity
🐾 Gain confidence in their environment

That's why you'll often find them scaling things that make absolutely no sense to humans.

The good news? Climbing is completely normal!

Providing cat trees, shelves, scratching posts, and other safe climbing opportunities can help redirect them away from your curtains and furniture (and save your legs from becoming a human jungle gym).

So if your kitten is currently hanging from something they shouldn't be... congratulations! You have a healthy, curious kitten doing exactly what kittens were designed to do. ❤️

Now tell us...

🐱 What is the strangest thing YOUR kitten has ever climbed?

Drop a photo or story in the comments! ⬇️

🐾 KITTEN SEASON IS HERE... and so is the reality behind it. 🐾

These are just a few of the kittens currently in our foster homes.

One was found hiding inside a vehicle wheel well.

Another litter was found in a box of trash, covered in ants.

Others from similar stories or came from litters that were never planned but somehow happened "unexpectedly."

And every single day, our inbox fills with more messages:

📩 "I found kittens." 📩 "My cat had babies." 📩 "Can you take them?" 📩 "Can you help?"

The hard truth is this:

We are 100% volunteer-run.

There is no paid staff. There is no giant budget. There is no endless supply of foster homes.

Every kitten we save depends on having:

🐾 A foster willing to open their home
🐾 Food and supplies
🐾 Veterinary care
🐾 Donations to cover the ever-growing medical bills

And this season has already hit us hard.

We've treated kittens with coccidia, giardia, swimmers syndrome, and even panleukopenia—a devastating and often deadly disease in kittens. These aren't just routine expenses. They are expensive, time-consuming battles that have to be fought if we want these babies to have a chance.

The adorable photos are the fun part.

The medications. The vet visits. The sleepless nights. The bottle feedings. The cleaning. The heartbreak.

That's the part most people never see.

Yet every one of these tiny lives matters.

❤️ If you've ever enjoyed seeing our rescue updates... ❤️ If you've celebrated an adoption with us... ❤️ If you've smiled at one of our kitten photos... ❤️ If you've ever said, "I'm so glad someone is helping them..."

Please consider making a donation.

No amount is too small. Truly.

Your donation helps us buy food, litter, medications, vaccines, testing, and emergency veterinary care so we can continue saying "yes" when the next desperate call comes in.

You can donate through any of our social media pages, and we'll post the website link in the comments as well.

And keep watching our page because there are LOTS of kittens growing, healing, and getting ready to find their forever families in the coming weeks! 🐱❤️

If you can't donate, you can still help us tremendously:

Why are cats BFFs one minute and then trying to kill each other the next?

🐾WHY CATS DO THAT 🐾

If you've ever watched your cats grooming each other sweetly on the couch... only to witness a WWE-style smackdown 10 minutes later, you're not alone! 😹

The good news? Most of the time, they're not actually trying to hurt each other.

Cats have complex relationships, and what looks dramatic to us is often completely normal cat behavior.

🐾 Play can escalate. One cat gets overstimulated, bites a little too hard, and suddenly the fun is over.

🐾 They're establishing boundaries. Just like people, cats don't always agree on personal space. One cat may decide they've had enough cuddles, grooming, or attention.

🐾 Competition happens. Favorite sleeping spots, toys, windows, food bowls, or even your lap can become valuable real estate.

🐾 Redirected frustration. A cat sees something exciting outside the window (a bird, squirrel, or neighborhood cat) and may take that frustration out on the nearest feline roommate.

🐾 Sometimes they're just being cats. Their social structure is much more flexible than dogs. They can be best friends and occasional rivals all in the same day.

💡 How can you tell the difference between play and a real fight?

✅ Play: Taking turns chasing, brief pauses, loose body language, no injuries.

🚩 Real fight: Growling, screaming, puffed-up tails, flattened ears, one cat trying desperately to escape, and no breaks in the action.

The best way to keep peace in a multi-cat household is to make sure there are plenty of resources for everyone:

✔️ Multiple litter boxes
✔️ Multiple food and water stations
✔️ Plenty of beds, cat trees, and hiding spots
✔️ Daily playtime

Now tell us...

👇 Do your cats act like soulmates one minute and sworn enemies the next? Share their funniest "love-hate relationship" story in the comments!😹

Honestly, some cats spend their entire lives saying, "Don't touch me... okay, maybe touch me... NOPE, too much!" and their siblings are left trying to figure out the rules.

🐾 This is Bear. And today, we're telling the whole story. 🐾

Not the polished version.

Not the easy version.

The real version.

Because Bear deserves that.

Bear has been waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

While other cats have found homes, Bear has watched from the sidelines.

Not because she isn't beautiful.

Not because she isn't loving.

Not because she doesn't deserve a family.

But because Bear was born different.

Bear has Cauda Equina Syndrome, a congenital condition that affects the nerves at the end of the spinal cord. In Bear's case, she was born missing some of the nerves and structures that most cats have. She has no tail at all, and because of the way her nerves developed, she sometimes dribbles urine, especially when she's excited or when you pet her lower back.

This isn't something that can be "fixed."

This is simply who Bear is.

And the heartbreaking reality?

Many cats born with conditions like Bear's are euthanized.

Not because they aren't happy.

Not because they are suffering.

But because finding someone willing to take on their special needs can be incredibly difficult.

Yet here sits Bear.

Alive.

Hopeful.

Loving.

Waiting.

And if you ask her, she doesn't know she's different.

She doesn't wake up feeling sorry for herself.

She doesn't spend her days thinking about what she's missing.

She spends her days looking for her people.

The people who will let her curl up beside them.

The people who will accept her exactly as she is.

The people who understand that perfection was never the point.

Because here's what we know about Bear:

❤️ She's a Velcro kitty.
❤️ She adores her humans.
❤️ She wants to be near you.
❤️ She craves affection.
❤️ She has so much love to give.

She isn't looking for someone to save her.

She's looking for someone willing to love her.

Someone who understands that occasionally cleaning up after a little dribble is a small price to pay for the kind of unconditional love Bear offers every single day.

We know her perfect home is not going to be for everyone.

And that's okay.

We're not looking for everyone.

We're looking for that one person whose heart is big enough to see beyond the diagnosis and see the cat.

The cat who has been overlooked.

The cat who would normally never have gotten this chance.

The cat who just wants a family.

If that's you—or if you know someone who has a special place in their heart for special-needs animals—please reach out.

And if you can't adopt, please share.

Because somewhere out there is the person who has been waiting for Bear just as long as Bear has been waiting for them. ❤️🐾

This photo says so much. She looks proud, hopeful, and absolutely beautiful. Sometimes the cats who need the most understanding end up giving the most love. ❤️🐾

MOLLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

After so many of you reacted, commented, tagged friends, and shared her posts over and over again… her person FOUND her. 🥹

This sweet girl came so far while at Petco in Rogers. Watching her slowly come out of her shell, gain confidence, and finally get the happy ending she deserved has been so special.

And THIS is why sharing matters.

Every comment.

It changes lives.

We are so grateful for this amazing community that constantly shows up for these cats and helps us keep going, even during the crazy chaos of kitten season. 🩷

Now the best part…

More adorable kittens will be arriving at Petco in Rogers VERY soon. 👀🐾

And trust me… you’re going to want to see these babies.

Stay tuned because kitten season is officially in full swing. 🐱✨

Why do cats lick you? 👅

🐱 WHY CATS DO THAT 🐱

If your cat licks your hand, face, hair… or even your arm when you’re trying to sleep 😅… congratulations. You’ve officially been claimed.

Cats lick for several reasons:

✨ Affection & bonding — Grooming is how cats show love and trust. When they lick you, they’re treating you like family.

✨ Marking you as “theirs” — Cats have scent glands in their mouths, so licking helps mix their scent with yours. It’s their way of saying, “This human belongs to me.” 😹

✨ Comfort & security — Some cats lick when they feel relaxed, safe, and content around you.

✨ Grooming instincts — In multi-cat colonies, bonded cats groom each other to strengthen social bonds. Your cat may simply see you as part of their little pride.

✨ Attention-seeking — And yes… some cats quickly learn licking gets a reaction from us. 😂

BUT… if licking suddenly becomes excessive, obsessive, or turns into chewing, it can sometimes point to stress, anxiety, allergies, or medical issues, so it’s always good to pay attention to changes in behavior.

Now tell us…
Does your cat give tiny sweet licks… or act like they’re trying to exfoliate your entire arm off? 🤣👇

📸 Bonus points for sharing photos of your little lickers in the comments!
