Hank had a big day!! He came along to 3WC Cowboy Church for Arena Clean Up day. Tons of kids, adults, commotion, vehicles, and all the distractions. By the end of the day he was prettt comfortable minding his own business offleash or tied in the truck in the shade quietly. Win!

Big strides for Hank yesterday and today, and very little video evidence since we were 'in the moment'. Yesterday he got a 2.5mi breeze out with the electric bike in the rain, and we didn't crash even once! Ok, maybe once upon re-entry to the barn with the boys playing basketball as a distraction... but it was mostly at a standstill; that's a win.

Then today he had company on his workout for the first time. It was tough for a while, but after he got his wits together we finished up pretty nicely.

Hank is... a lot 🤪 but he's here to go from big ole puppy to respectable young adult. First up, building some focus. One day at a time. Today we practiced going in and out of the kennel 15 times, until he could do so without charging.

I have two openings for Ranch Dog Obedience, starting March 26.

I'm no longer starting dogs on livestock, my knees just can't do it any more. I AM showing them how to call off and behave themselves around livestock!

-4 week course
-$1000
-Dog stays with me
-Lesson on pickup for entire family
-Basic Obedience including offleash recall, sit, down, load up, quietly walking on or offleash, tying out quietly, and any specific issues you need worked on.
-They are exposed to machinery big and small, kids, cattle, horses, and barn cats, not to mention whatever we come across in the pasture.

I've worked with doodles, every cattle dog breed, mastiffs to corgis, blue tick hounds to wolfhounds, malinois to papillon and everything in between. Over 300 dogs trained on my watch, only 3 ever sent home early and money was refunded for time not used.

-I will not be taking dogs who have ever run off, or dogs that are people aggressive.

I've been waiting to take Ricki out horseback on cattle for a couple of reasons- first, its been raining for forty days and forty nights 😜 and second, all I have here at the ranch are our longhorns. They are not particularly beginner dog friendly 😬 Ricki was strong and interested in movin some bovine! They can always be slowed down or backed off, but she's got the heart to pick a fight with a longhorn momma, and that's a heck of a start!

Catching up with Ricki videos from the last few days. Almost has the down. Getting better about listening with friends. WANTS to get the 'out', but is so proper she doesn't want to go through fences (or step in water lol)

Offleash heeling tonight with Ricki. Dog project was a bigger setback than I'd anticipated. Looks like we will do lots more work with others in the next few weeks. Tonight I asked her to step up and she did though 💪

Ricki got to go on a fiels trip today! She's seeing lots of pastures, cattle, and horses.
