Long over due update : 🎏
I’ve had some set backs this summer.
I did sell the last of my fish however the lady didn’t pay for them after having me deliver them to her and giving the wrong directions so I’d come then have to drive 20 miles further to meet her - she didn’t have all the money said she’d cash app and never did. Lesson learned . I’m to nice and had to make money to buy fish another way.
Moving on to the next issue at hand
I’ve had a snail infestation.
The snails came from plants I brought home from a much larger pond, 6000 gallons but snails can really devastate a 300 gallon ecosystem in a short amount of time.  They create a sludge waste that coats everything in the tank, including the pump, filter, bio falls the plants, the rocks, tank decor walls of the tank tubing the thermostat line it was a nightmare. 😅
There are ways to resolve snail problems. One is to salt. Salt The pond slowly increasing your salinity in the water until it kills off the snails maintaining a balance to keep your plants and fish alive and happy in the process is tricky and why it takes months to resolve the problem The snails will adapt to the salt and it takes 7 to 8 weeks for good measure to  disrupt their breeding cycle.
The quick not so easy way to fix the problem is to completely dry it out. I’ve scrubbed the entire tank with a one to 20 bleach solution, including dunking the plants and washing them off in tap water to kill off any algae or snail babies left over from the old set up. Now to let it all dry out while I wait for new filter pads and fun things to come in the mail.
The good news is I get to set the tank and show anyone interested how easy this set up is to maintain from the start ! Including how I’m gonna  fast track getting my fish in the water before the end of the summer! 🎏
