FLY STRIKE IS HORRIBLE AND DEADLY IN POULTRY!!
Check your birds for fly strike! It can be deadly quickly!
My Dun Chocolate Satin Frizzle, "Beardy" has not been acting right the last few days, leaning on one side when she lays and yelling when her c**k bird mounted her. I looked at her feathers and noticed a large clump of matted feathers on her leg. When I lifted it up, I saw the rotten flesh and the maggots.........they were eating her alive!
We removed the feathers and gave her a bath to kill the maggots. It is bad but hopefully we caught it in time.
Please pray for our little girl. She is one of my kiddos" F-words (favorite). She is the sweetest!
Any recommendations for treating it? We have her in a fly proof container in the house and covered in Blu-Kote and antiseptic.
I will be checking every bird today and putting out fly traps.
The glamorous life of a Silkie breeder! Lol
