Police K9s work in the same dangerous conditions as their human partners, which means their care should include proper training, veterinary treatment, insurance, and ongoing support throughout their service.

When these dogs are injured or reach retirement age, the costs of specialist veterinary care, medication, and rehabilitation can add up quickly. Long-term health needs don't stop when the working years end.

Departments that rely on K9s should have clear funding in place for medical care, retirement, and adoption. Handlers shouldn't be left covering those expenses out of their own pockets.

💬 Owner's Message: "Im looking for my cat, Puddin, he was last seen on 64th and kedzie behind a nail salon. He is a larger cat, fully orange with green eyes. His left ear is clipped from when he was neutered, and he was wearing a purple and orange collar when he got out. He's been missing for nearly 2 weeks, he got out a window July 30th at night."
