Seen a lot of other people posting their “other” animals so here’s two of our more exotic pets ❤️

Rex is our dinosaur bichir, he’s easily quadrupled in size since we brought him home and has terrorized the fish tank since day one 😅

Next is Cheeto, our western hognose snake!🐍 the boys and I absolutely love him but my husband isn’t convinced, he HATES snakes 🤣 and before anyone asks, no he doesn’t eat the rabbits (DOA babies or otherwise), he’s far too little to eat anything that size.

We also have the button quail but I tend to leave them be with how flighty they are, they can get their own post later on 🤣

Riah has been a super first time mama and took on one of Remi’s kits and two of Thistles to even things out across the mamas. ❤️

Just a reminder what those “ugly” brood does can produce for your program ❤️
MBZ Aster and MBZ Thistle have been the backbone of the chocolate magpie project and you’d never know it looking at them. I didn’t even know Aster was a chocolate carrier until she had Loki, and Loki moved on to be our main herd sire. Pairing him with Thistle is what created Benedict. These girls have made the biggest impact on our herd and most people would turn their nose up at them, but they’ll always have a special spot in my heart ❤️

Miss Riah released her hostages late this morning. Unfortunately she had one extremely large stretched kit that was gone when I found him and one perfect (but also huge) chocolate otter baby ❤️
Poor mama was definitely stressed when I checked in and refused to leave her nest box for anything. After some bribing with apples (her absolute favorite treat) I was able to sneak her nest box out.
What to do from there was a huge gamble. Thistle had 8 kits of her own already and Remi had 7. I could’ve put that baby in with Remi but with her age her body condition really took a hit from so many babies and I just couldn’t do that to her (yes this is her last litter and she’s getting free fed plus lots of treats).
So I took the risk and fostered over kits from Remi and Thistle’s litters to Riah to give her a chance, and thankfully that gamble pulled off. She’s been AMAZING with her new additions and has calmed down so much since adding them to her nest box.
I breathed the biggest sigh of relief when I saw those full bellies 🥹❤️
Pictures of Riah’s surviving bean and two of the babies I fostered over (that’s are 3 days older than Riah’s 😅)❤️

Miss Riah is still holding hostages, but mister Benedict was out today reminding me exactly why I’m so excited for these full siblings of his. Look at this stunning boy at barely 6 months old 😍
For a hobby color I’m so excited to see these big strides in our type start to come together and I’m hoping Thistle gives me some more siblings that are as nice as he is 🤞🏻 he still has areas where he could use improvement, but from where I started with this chocolate magpie project he’s leaps and bounds better 🥰

Haven’t personally used this transport but is highly recommended by my friend so willing to give them a try ❤️ still have a few hollands and himis ready to go!

Feel free to share.
November route leaving Nov 10. I'll go north first. Then east and south. I will probably end in Texas and Oklahoma before heading home. I probably will have to go back up to the Michigan area after. These are all the states I'm willing to go. Some already have stops and some don't but I can add them. I'm going further east than I ever have before. So if you far east folks need something from convention here is your chance.

Remi and Thistle decided we were going out with a bang for our holland litters for the year 🥹
Thistle welcomed 8 (for the second time 🫠) babies last night and Remi welcomed 7 (for her 3rd time 😅) this morning ❤️

Now we’re just waiting on miss Riah to release her MPL babies 🥰
