The hospital isn't haunted, we swear! We're just closing up a little early this Halloween so our team can get home for trick or treating with their own little goblins and superheroes!

On Saturday, October 31st, Plateau Veterinary Hospital will close at 2pm.

Don't be scared of the dark, we will be back to our regular hours on Monday.

With Halloween candy making its way into homes this time of year, we wanted to share a quick reminder.

Chocolate can be dangerous for dogs and cats. Sugar free candies containing xylitol are also extremely toxic to pets, even in small amounts.

Keep treats and wrappers out of paws' reach, and if you think your pet has gotten into something they shouldn't have, call us or your nearest emergency vet right away.

A little caution goes a long way toward a safe holiday for the whole family.

With wildfire smoke creating poor air quality across the U.S, the AVMA is reminding the public that wildfire smoke can pose serious health risks not only to people, but to pets and livestock as well.

Smoke from wildfires contains fine particles that can cause respiratory issues in animals, especially those with pre-existing heart or lung disease. Pet owners should keep a close eye on their animals during poor air quality events and contact their veterinarian if any of the following signs appear. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4wqddp3

Cheatgrass season is in full swing. Enjoy this video of Bubbles having a cheatgrass awn removed from his eye by Dr Cook. He feels so much better now!

All summer long we see cheatgrass in eyes, ears, between toes and in places you can't even imagine. If you see what looks like a little cut between your dog's toes, notice them yelping when you touch their ears, or notice them squinting like Bubbles was, get them in to see us ASAP. The sooner we can get it out, the easier it is.
Be careful out there folks!

We've been seeing a lot of ticks this spring, and our clients have too.
Central Oregon is shaping up to have a tough season, so if parasite prevention has been on your to-do list, now is a good time to check it off.

Fleas, ticks, and heartworm are all real risks for pets in our area, but they're also very preventable. We carry three options to fit different needs:
Credelio: Flea and Tick Prevention
Interceptor: Heartworm Prevention
Credelio Quattro: Covers Fleas, Ticks and Heartworms!

Rebates are available on 6 and 12-month supplies for all three; and any 12-month heartworm prevention purchase includes a free heartworm test.

You can schedule an appointment online at PlateauVeterinary.net or reach out with any questions. We're happy to help you find the right fit for your pet.

To all the incredible moms out there; human, furry, feathered, and everything in between, Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Plateau Veterinary Hospital!

Thank you for the countless early mornings, the worry, the patience, the treats slipped under the table, and the unconditional love you give so freely to your families and pets alike.

Whether your Mother’s Day includes breakfast in bed, muddy paw prints, zoomies through the house, or a cat insisting the gift bag belongs to them now, we hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and a little time to relax.

We would love to see how your pets are celebrating with you today.
