Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is a 501c3 organization with a network of volunteers across the United States. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome unwanted, displaced, and neglected Great Pyrenees along with other Livestock Guardian dogs that are abandoned in high kill shelters throughout Texas. By placing them in caring and nurturing foster homes we are able to successfully adopt them to loving homes th

roughout the Western United states. Our mission is to engage community members to promote better treatment of these dogs and reduce euthanasia numbers through adoptions, education, and other resources.

Wonton(or Wonton Tony) is now available for adoption! Wonton is the sweetest, goofiest five-month-old Pyr/Lab mix to ever trip over his paws and look great doing it. He has already mastered the most important skill: being velcro-ed to his people at all times. Wonton is incredibly food motivated, making him easy to train and redirect. He's fully house trained and has taken to leash walking like a champ. He’s obsessed with most toys, but tennis balls most of all.

Still very much in puppyhood, Wonton is teething and on a constant mission to find the best chew toy, so he'll need plenty of good options to keep busy. And like most puppies, he’s either at full-speed or completely asleep (belly up). He's wonderful with cats and other dogs and is looking for a family who wants an affectionate, goofy buddy. He’s neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, so now he’s ready to find his home! Wonton Tony is currently being fostered in Portland, OR. To fill out an application head to www.greatpyrsandpaws.org

Rescues Helping Rescues - Bonded Pair 🩷💙 Meet Thor & Nala 💕🐾 Second Chance Dogs for info !!!!

Thor, a 6-year-old purebred Great Pyrenees, and Nala, a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix, are a truly bonded pair looking for a forever home **together** in McKenna, WA. Both are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, house-trained, and have been wonderful indoor companions. Nala is the outgoing social butterfly, while shy Thor takes a little time to warm up before revealing his sweet, cuddly side. Both walk well on leash, know basic commands, and have surprisingly good Pyr recall! 😉

These two are natural-born guardians who love having a secure yard or property to patrol and protect. They are best suited as the **only dogs in the home** (Nala has shown aggression toward very small dogs) and would do well with adults or children after a proper introduction. Thor has IBS and both are on a specialized Hill’s Z/D diet; they are also comfortable taking medications. Loud bangs, fireworks, and gunshots are frightening, especially for Thor, who will need reassurance. After years together, these two deserve a family who will keep their bond intact and give them the love, space, and purpose they both crave. **Could you be their forever home?** 🐾❤️

🏡 FOSTER NEEDED!**

Freya may be a petite Anatolian mix, but don’t let her size fool you… this girl has **BIG guardian energy packed into a smaller package!** 😂🐶

She is incredibly smart, loyal, protective, and always on duty.Her current temporary foster family — mama, kiddos AND doggies — have officially been placed under her very important security detail. 👮‍♀️🐾

The backyard? **Under surveillance.** 👀
The house? **Secure.** 🏠
A suspicious stranger? **Freya has questions.** 😂

This beautiful girl is naturally cautious and shy when meeting new people. She can be very weary of strangers, so she'll need someone who understands LGD behavior and is willing to continue building her confidence through **patience, consistency, and ongoing socialization.**

And because Freya is a **VERY smart young girl**, she needs a job—or at least enough things to make her believe she has one! 😂

Think:
🦴 LOTS of appropriate chews
🧩 Enrichment and activities
🌳 Room to explore
🐾 Plenty of mental stimulation
❤️ A predictable, secure environment

Freya would likely be happiest with **some land or property where she can safely run, explore, and burn off some of that young-dog energy.**

Her current foster works from home, and Freya does seem to enjoy having her people around. If left alone, she will need to be **crated**, because those adorable **puppy vibes are still VERY strong with this one!** 😅

Freya is looking for an **experienced LGD home** that understands that she is still growing, learning, and figuring out her place in the world. She needs someone who can help her feel safe and secure while allowing that wonderful guardian personality to develop in the right direction.

She has SO much potential to become an incredible companion and guardian for the right family. 💗

Dogs can also bring meaningful routine, connection, comfort, and purpose—getting us outside, giving us a reason to smile, and reminding us that we are never truly alone. While a dog isn't a cure for mental health struggles, the bond we share with them can be incredibly meaningful. 💙

Summer is winding down, and we want to celebrate with you and your pups! Labor Day Weekend, come out to Spider City Brewing and have a pint with us! Sarurday September 5th, join us from 2-5pm where we'll have raffle prizes, some silent auction items, and GPPR swag! Buy a GPPR shirt or raffle ticket to support GPPR! Spider City will also kindly donate $1/pint to GPPR! GPPR volunteers and alumni will be there to answer questions or chat about ways you can get involved in rescue. Welcome Finner to GPPR! This sweet boy went to live with a relative when his dad got sick last year. Unfortunately, he needs more attention than he's currently getting, so we're trying to help find Finner a new home!

A Warm Weekend Welcome to these two adorable pups: Geralt and Cirilla! Found living on the streets near Austin, our awesome volunteer took these two sweethearts in and they are settling nicely!

Gerald is a goofy boy who is estimated to be approximately 1 year old. Cirilla (Ciri) is shy to start and estimated to be 6-7 months old. Both dogs love toys, are doing well with house training, and need more work on leash training. Both are very sweet once they warm up. Watch for updates here and at www.greatpyrsandpaws.org.
