Before the doors open, the kitchen is already moving. Ingredients being prepped, stations getting set, everything coming together so that when you walk in, it’s ready without feeling rushed.

That consistency matters.

It’s what allows every plate to come out the way it’s supposed to, whether you’re here for a quick lunch or taking your time at the table.

No shortcuts. Just the work behind the scenes that makes it all feel easy once it gets to you.

Elara dreamed of a sky filled with warm clouds and magnificent golden gates high in the air. There, resting peacefully together, were her three white guardians, young and healthy once again in the sky. She saw them napping in the sun, and the ache in her heart finally eased as she watched. Heaven must be a beautiful place because her beloved friends are waiting for her there right now. They are free from any pain and are waiting with the same devotion they showed on earth. Knowing they are safe allows us to smile through the sadness of missing their calm presence. 🌈🏔️🕊️

Saturday usually means everyone is on a different schedule.

Someone is ready for breakfast early, someone else rolls in closer to lunch, and by evening you’re trying to figure out what actually sounds good for dinner.

That’s where we fit in.

From a full breakfast to a quick lunch or a sit down dinner, everything here is made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients and options that work for everyone, including a kids menu for the pickiest ones.

No overthinking it. Just good food when you need it.

🦉 Owl Update… and I have the BEST news!

Remember the injured barred owl we rushed to the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center?

Well… I am smiling as I write this…

👉 He’s getting feisty. 🦉❤️

He is now:
• Standing strong
• Alert and aware
• Eating well (cleaning his plate!)
• Digesting normally again
• And… not too happy about being handled 🥰

And believe it or not… that last one is exactly what we want.

Because feisty means:
👉 Strength is returning
👉 Instincts are intact
👉 His wild spirit is still very much alive

This is a beautiful shift from those early days of trauma and uncertainty.

But he is not fully out of the woods yet.

He is still receiving medications, still healing, and still being carefully monitored—especially for vision and flight.

And here is the part I want to gently remind you of…

❤️ This progress is possible because of the incredible team at the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center.

They show up every single day to care for animals like this owl…
and for the two tiny screech owl babies that were brought in the very same afternoon.

They do this work quietly… compassionately… and almost entirely through community support.

🐾🐾 Bella the Brave

Some people believe Labradoodles are simply sweet, gentle companions.

And they are.

But every once in a while…
they show you something more.

They show you their courage.

Two nights ago, our beautiful Bella, now 10 years old, did something nothing short of heroic.

When her mom unexpectedly came face-to-face with a mama bear and her three cubs, Bella didn’t hesitate. As the bear advanced… as fear took hold… as her human fell… Bella stepped in.

Again.
And again.
And again.

Each time the bear turned toward her mom, Bella intervened, redirecting danger away from the person she loves most.

Because of Bella, her mom was able to get back on her feet…
get to safety…
and survive.

Bella herself was injured in the process and required emergency surgery, but today, she is home, resting… a quiet warrior with a very big heart.

This is what we mean when we say these dogs are special.

They are not just intelligent.
They are not just loving.
They are deeply intuitive… fiercely loyal… and when it matters most… they rise.

Bella, we are so incredibly proud of you.

You are not just a good girl.

You are your momma’s hero sweet Bella. 🐾🐾💗💕

“Hope all is wellJanet and Tim
Sweet Bella has proven to be my fierce protector when I was being attacked by a Momma bear who had three very young babies. I manually opened my garage door last night to take the cans to the curb and we didn’t even get past the threshold outside and the bears weren’t 5 feet away. As I was dragging Bella on her leash backwards the mom was coming, I tried to put one of the cans between her and me but that didn’t phase her. She kept advancing, as I kept backing up than I fell backwards on my butt and she was on me Bella was attacking her the whole time, so while Bella attacked her I was able to get my feet underneath me and stand up and the would turn her focus on me again and each time she did Bella would go after her again then the bear would cut me off so we couldn’t access the door to get inside and Bella attacked her again, finally I was able to get to the door and get Bella in and that damn bear was trying to get inside with us!! I had a wrench and whacked her on her head and was able to shut the door. Well you can imagine the state we were both in. Shaking, I was a bloody mess! I tried to calm Bella and check for injuries. I couldn’t find any so I got us showered and stopped my leg from bleeding and turned my focus to further inspection of Bella. She had a bite or claw injury to her chest but it looked superficial so I cleaned it and decided to take her to the vet when they opened in the morning. I didn’t sleep a wink. I’m so glad I took her first thing because what was determined to be a claw injury caused an air embolism and required a confirming xray and prompt surgery.
She’s home and sleeping now, thank God.
I wanted to share with you what a brave fierce protector she is. She’s so loyal that she risked her life and in doing so she saved me.”
