Along with updating our social media and website, our team has also created a short survey (link above) to hear personal experiences with the York Community Farm coming from York community members. This survey will be used as a tool to help us decide what projects and decisions to conduct going forward.

We are community-driven and want to hear your voice! Wether you have lots of experience gardening at home or have never even heard of a community farm, if you want to get involved this is a great starting point!

Intro time!!
I’m Ellie (she/her) the new manager at York Community Farm. This Spring I started a new position at the Center for Community Learning at WWU that is centered around convening food systems and local farming efforts, and also includes stewarding the York Farm!
I couldn’t be more excited to be working with an awesome team of WWU students this season, learning together and growing vegetables, fruit, flowers and seed crops.
A little about me:
I’m originally from Montana and moved to the PNW ~7 years ago. For the past 5 years I have been co-running City Sprouts Farm in the birchwood neighborhood. My little red herding dog Freya rarely leaves my side. I am a major nerd about winter squash, and I am super passionate about connecting people to each other and the land through the joy of farming!
Come by the York Farm and say hi!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know The York Community Farm is still kicking!
After 10 years of the farm being managed by the loving care of Mary, it’s now being stewarded by the Center for Community Learning at Western. We have an excellent team of students and a farm manager working at the farm and growing vegetables, herbs and fruit to share with our community. More info to come! Stay tuned.

York Community Farm is excited to announce our kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a greenhouse! With a greenhouse, we will be able to conduct our pilot aquaponics project, extend our growing season, and expand our employment opportunities for underserved members of Whatcom County. Please visit our campaign here and make a pledge today! The campaign ends May 13th and we won’t be able to accept any pledge unless we meet our goal of $8,000! So, please pledge today and know you are supporting a model cause!
