Employee Spotlight: Jordan, LVT
Hi! My name is Jordan, and I am the lead licensed veterinary technician at VCA Bellevue.
I started at VCA Bellevue 10 years ago as a veterinary assistant and, at the beginning of this year, passed my licensing exam.
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the Sounders games and playing DND with my husband and our friends. My husband and I have two labrador retrievers, both named after a couple of our favorite book characters.

Join us in thanking Jordan for everything she does here at VCA Bellevue. Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week!

This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Please join us in thanking our amazing tech and assistant team here at VCA Bellevue!!
These wonderful humans are here every day to make sure the pets of Bellevue and the surrounding communities are taken care of.
They are excited when you bring a new pet home, are there for you when your pet is sick and injured, and cry with you when it is time to say goodbye to your beloved companion.
We could not do what we do here at VCA Bellevue if it were not for this team. We are thankful for them every day!!

ia de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) is a beautiful time dedicated to remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed. Central to this tradition is the ofrenda—a beautifully decorated altar built to honor their memory and welcome their spirits back for a visit. 🌸✨
Because our pets are cherished members of our families, we want to honor the unforgettable companions who are no longer with us. Starting the week of October 19th, we will be setting up a community pet ofrenda in our clinic lobby.
We warmly invite you to participate:
• Bring a framed photo of your beloved pet who has passed away.
• Drop it off at our front desk anytime during the week of 10/19.
• Pick it up after 11/02 so it can return home safely with you.
We will decorate the altar with traditional elements like marigolds and lights to honor their bright spirits. Let’s come together to celebrate the unconditional love they brought into our lives. 🐾❤️

VCA Bellevue will be closed today, 10/14, from 12:30 to 2:30 for our monthly staff meeting and training.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Choosing to adopt doesn't just change one animal's life—it creates a beautiful ripple effect throughout our entire community. ❤️🐾
As we celebrate Adopt a Cat Month, we want to highlight why choosing shelter adoption and supporting local rescues is so powerful:
• Saving two lives at once: When you adopt a cat, you open up a precious spot and critical resources at the shelter for another cat in need.
• Finding a perfect personality match: Rescues work tirelessly to understand each cat’s unique temperament, helping you find the perfect match for your home.
• Supporting a vital community lifeline: Local shelters provide essential medical care, spay/neuter services, and safe havens for vulnerable animals every single day.
How you can help right now:
If you aren't in a position to adopt, you can still make a massive impact! Consider donating supplies, volunteering your time, or sharing shelter posts online to help these amazing organizations continue their life-saving work.
To all our amazing clients who have adopted: thank you for giving these cats a second chance at a beautiful life! 🐱✨

🐶 Fun Fact Friday is here!
Just like human fingerprints, no two dog nose prints are alike!
A dog's nose has a unique pattern of ridges and creases that can actually be used to identify them. Plus, that wet nose isn't just for cute snoot boops—it helps catch scent chemicals in the air!
Give your pup an extra snoot boop for us today.

Extra love is great—extra weight, not so much! 🐶⚖️🐱
Did you know that over 50% of dogs and cats in the U.S. are classified as overweight or obese?
While a little extra chonk might look cute, those extra pounds can seriously impact your pet’s health and longevity.

Excess weight puts extra stress on joints and increases the risk of:
• Diabetes
• Osteoarthritis
• Heart disease
• Reduced lifespan

The good news? Pet obesity is entirely preventable and manageable! Small changes lead to big results:
• Measure meals: Swap free-feeding for portion-controlled, exact daily measurements.
• Smart treats: Cut back on table scraps and high-calorie treats (try baby carrots or green beans instead!).
• Up the activity: Add an extra 10–15 minutes of daily play or walks.
• Know the score: You should easily feel your pet’s ribs without pressing hard, and they should have a visible waist tuck from the side.

Wondering if your furry friend is at their ideal weight? Let’s team up to build a custom nutrition and exercise plan!

📞 Call us at 425-747-1770 or or book an appointment using the myVCA app to schedule a weight check or nutrition consultation today! 🐾

🐱 Fun Fact Friday: The Magic of Cat Whiskers! 🐱

Ever wonder why your cat is such an incredible navigator, even in the pitch dark? It’s all thanks to their amazing whiskers!

Here are three mind-blowing facts about your cat's whiskers:
Built-In Tape Measure: Whiskers grow to be the exact width of a cat's body. They use them like a radar system to judge whether they can squeeze through a tight space without getting stuck! 📐
Emotional Mood Rings: Whiskers change positions depending on how your cat feels. Relaxed whiskers point out to the sides, while forward-pointing whiskers mean they are alert or hunting. 🔍
They "See" the Air: Whiskers are so sensitive they can detect microscopic changes in air currents, helping them spot moving prey or navigate a dark room without bumping into furniture. 🔦

💡 Clinic Tip: Because whiskers are packed with nerve endings, eating out of narrow bowls can cause "whisker fatigue" (sensory overload). If your cat is a messy eater or flips their bowl, try switching to a wide, flat dish! 🍽️
