We have swag bags / buckets for one feline 😸 winner, one small dog 🐶 winner, and one large dog 🐕‍🦺winner - and each includes a $25 gift certificate 💲 good towards any service at our hospital!! Bring your pets in all their spooky, cute, or funny attire to our Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, October 18th between noon and 3:00 p.m. One of our team members will take 📸 pics of all the contest participants, and our staff will vote for their favorites ; winners will be announced before the end of the month. (Cat parents, for a low-stress experience, we'll take your kitty inside our building for their contest photo ops. Please bring kitty in a carrier!)

Spooky season 👻 is here! Check out this "bucket list" of Halloween safety tips from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the Pet Poison Helpline in the video below.

It is almost impossible to think of a Halloween and not envision a bucket full of sweets sitting on the counter after a successful evening of trick-or-treating. From chocolate bars 🍫 to gummy worms 🐛, it’s common to have candy and other Halloween 🎃 bucket knickknacks lying about in October.

With that said, it’s clearly no surprise that organizations like the Pet Poison Hotline see a lot of calls this time of year. Some pets love candy just as much as we do, but often the ingredients in that candy do not love our pets back. **If your pet ingested a substance and you’re unsure if it’s toxic, call your veterinarian or the Pet Poison Helpline immediately to get your questions answered!**

ERMAHGERD! 😅 Check out "Yogi" Salamon's reaction 👀 when our Practice Manager, Sarah, was holding him during his visit with us last week! This sweet Pittie boi had an abrasion on his paw that needed looking at and he was a little nervous, but he did just great for his exam and bandage, plus a heartworm test blood draw and his first leptospirosis vaccination. We're delighted to share his cuteness with you today!

Happy Whisker Wednesday from "River" Renken! River is a sweet kitty who will be celebrating his 5th birthday next month. He loves laser play and the scent of lilacs!** River is highly play motivated, so his mama taught him to take his pills by training him to associate laser play time with swallowing his medication. One day he did not come to play with the laser when he was invited, which surprised his mama. She went to where River was sitting and noticed that the pill had fallen out of his mouth - so she gave the pill again, River swallowed it, and was immediately ready to play! Smarty cat! 😺

**Please note that lilacs are not toxic to cats, and River doesn't chew them, he just likes to smell them.** 💜

Today is 🌍🐾 World Rabies Day! To prevent and eliminate rabies, we are . Rabies is 100% preventable, yet it still affects people, animals, and communities all over the world. For example, as of 25 September 2026 there have been 33 cases of rabies reported in Nebraska this year: bats 🦇 accounted for 31 of those, while the other two cases were a dog 🐶 and a skunk 🦨. Twelve of the 33 rabies cases were bats that were found in in the Bellevue / Omaha area.

What can you do to keep yourself, your family, and your pets safe? The answer is simple: 💉 vaccination. Keeping your dogs and cats up to date on their rabies vaccines creates a vital shield of protection for them, your family, and your neighbors. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask your veterinarian!
