🔥💨 WILDFIRE SMOKE & AIR QUALITY SAFETY 🐾
Wildfire smoke doesn’t just affect us—it can affect our pets, too. When smoke is in the air and air quality is poor, take extra precautions to keep your entire family safe.
🐾 KEEP PETS SAFE
• Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
• Keep windows and doors closed when outdoor air quality is poor.
• Keep potty breaks short and avoid strenuous outdoor exercise.
• Provide plenty of fresh water.
• If available, use indoor air filtration and avoid adding additional smoke or irritants inside your home.
• Pay extra attention to senior pets, puppies and kittens, flat-faced breeds, and pets with existing heart or respiratory conditions.
⚠️ WATCH FOR SIGNS OF SMOKE IRRITATION
Keep an eye out for coughing, gagging, excessive eye or nasal irritation, unusual fatigue, weakness, decreased appetite, or changes in breathing.
Difficulty breathing, severe weakness, collapse, or other serious symptoms require immediate veterinary attention.
👨👩👧 KEEP YOURSELF SAFE, TOO
Limit time and strenuous activity outdoors when air quality is unhealthy, keep indoor air as clean as possible, and follow local air-quality and public-health recommendations.
❤️ Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the wildfires, especially our community in Spokane and the surrounding areas. We’re thinking of the families, pets, first responders, and everyone impacted during this difficult time.
Take care of yourselves, your neighbors, and your furry family members. 🐶🐱🐾
