Reason 723 why you need to be 100% ready for a puppy: they destroy without discrimination. It took Remus less than two minutes to completely dismantle his latest victim while I stepped away to grab my breakfast. Now that he's fully entered his chaotic puppy phase, my morning routine includes crawling under the scary part of the deck to account for all pieces 😬😨🕷️

5 am workout initiated! Watching an uncoordinated foster pup try to chase a sighthound built entirely of speed and aerodynamic disrespect is hilarious, but seeing him finally open up and play like this hits right in the feelings. My heart is full, even if his lungs are completely out of air (and hopefully he will take a nap?😁)

Remus has been with us for 18 days. From a wisp of a thing to finally engaging in dog play behavior! Yes puppies are exhausting, yes fostering is hard work and yes it's hard to part with them (it always will be) but knowing I was able to help this dude have these moments is everything. This is why we foster. 💓

Reason 537 why you need to be 100% sure you’re ready for a puppy: potty training is a sleep-deprivation experiment where you stand on a pitch-black lawn at 2:00 AM getting bit up by mosquitoes, whispering "please go potty" to a creature ignoring the grass for twenty minutes, only to walk inside, look you dead in the eye, and urinate right there. I am running entirely on hot coffee, day old clothes and pure chaos—send help, or at least an espresso machine.😪
