While some of our staff have said that Spooky Season starts on July 5th, we typically wait for the air to get a little cooler before we start posing our adoptable pets with pumpkins or in cauldrons. We are tired of waiting though so it’s time to declare that…

Hi, I’m Tori, BAHS’s new Executive Director! 🐾

I’ve worked in nonprofit organizations for more than 16 years, building partnerships, guiding teams, and helping organizations turn big goals into real work. I’m excited to bring that experience to BAHS—and to learn from the people who already know, love, and have made this such an amazing place.

For the last 15 years, I was also a dog mom to rescue hounds Boone and Lu (the sugarfaces in the photo with me!) Caring for them throughout their lives showed me firsthand the love, companionship and purpose pets can give us. They’re a big part of why helping animals find their people means so much to me. ❤️

I’m so happy to be here at BAHS, and I hope to meet many of you at W**e for Whiskers on October 15! 🎟🍷🎪

Hi, I'm Capone! I'm a sweet, happy guy looking for someone who appreciates a gentleman with a big head, a little body, and an even bigger heart.

I'm blind, but you might forget that pretty quickly. I learned the layout of my foster home in about an hour, and if nobody told you I was blind, you might think I could see just fine. I navigate confidently with my other senses, and I don't let my lack of vision keep me from exploring, going for walks, meeting new people, or enjoying life.

And speaking of meeting new people, I'm something of a local celebrity. I recently went to the park, where everyone wanted to pet me. Apparently being ridiculously handsome is exhausting work. 😎

I use my other senses to figure out what's happening around me, and my nose is especially impressive. My foster mom is pretty sure I could have a promising second career sniffing out criminals. 🕵️‍♂️👃

My ideal match enjoys walks, affection, handsome gentlemen with unconventional proportions, and being completely adored. I'm looking for something serious—none of this casual-fostering business.

I'm ready for forever. ❤️

It's throwback Thursday!

Did you know that the Belleville Area Humane Society was founded in 1959----that's 67 years of serving animals in the community!

Look how far we have come!
In 2014, 700+ dogs and cats found homes!
By 2024, BAHS adopted out 1,697 animals, while also feeding 7,920 pets through its pet food pantry, helping 231 community cats through TNR, and vaccinating 368 animals through its vaccine clinic!

Today, we remain a 100% donor-funded 501C with a mission centered on humane education, community outreach and adoption!!

We're excited to see what we accomplish in the next ten years...with your help, of course!! Our community cares and we are so grateful!
