Many of you know and love this girlie and have seen her in plenty of our videos- Loon!
Loon is a 3 year old (4 later this month) Great Dane and we are hoping to help find her the perfect home. We're in no rush, and she will not be leaving here without finding the perfect family for her.
A little bit about this sweetheart~
Strengths:
Loon is an all around goofball covered in premature "powdered sugar", as you can see. Always wearing her "sweet ears", she loves life and everyone in it. She's never met a stranger, nor a dog she didn't like, and she lives to cuddle. I often make the joke that she would be the perfect picture to stick under the dictionary definition of "dog". She's just easy going and wiggly and would fit right into most lifestyles. She knows all basic obedience such as sit & down with duration, place, come, and loose leash walking, as well as has a solid "no" for corrections. I have taken her on off leash hikes with no problems, but I do recommend someone get to know her and build up trust before reaching that level. She would be a great dog for an extrovert or adventurer, as she has no fear of the outside world or anyone in it. She is on the smaller side of Great Danes, weighing in consistently around 105 lbs, making her a great in between large and giant size. She comes from a wonderful and reputable Dane breeder who focuses on health and temperament first, health testing her dogs before they are ever paired. If you're wanting to avoid a lot of the health risks that come with a Great Dane, Loon is your girl.
Weaknesses:
Loon has some prey drive, so I don't recommend her around small animals aside from dogs and cats. I've never had an issue with her around other pets, but she will chase and catch wildlife in the fenced yard, like groundhogs. I've never had an issue with her chasing wildlife on hikes or walks, only in the yard, and she can be called off. She alert barks, as most Danes do, but can be told to stop and she will. She has a weapon of a tail. She wags that thing hard enough to take out surrounding objects, and in a space that was too small, could result in happy tail, which she had when she was under a year old. Her tail has healed beautifully since she was very young, but I do want to include the risk in this post, just in case, because I don't know how well she'd do in an apartment for instance. She's also not the ✨brightest✨ bulb in the box. Maybe the cutest, but asking her for obedience commands results in a bit of a load time. She will do the commands, but it does take her brain a second to turn on. She's too filled up with rainbows and sunshine to care about obedience, truly. She's a sensitive soul and would do best with a gentle, reassuring handler.
Other Info:
I love Loon immensely and have her half sister as well. I'm only looking to rehome her now due to our large life changes, and it has nothing to do with her being bad or causing me issues. Her breeder will be in the loop during her rehoming process as well, as she also is going through large life changes that prevent her from taking her back at this time, but obviously wants to know where she goes. Anyone serious about adopting her will have to sign a return contract with her breeder too. We're looking for the perfect home full of just as much love for her. ♥️
