October 2018: Felicity claimed the couch. I said goodbye to personal space
October 2026: All pillows and blankets are also Felicity's
Eight years ago, I went to Centre County PAWS looking for a dog.
I had another dog in mind, but one of the adoption specialists asked if I had met Felicity.
I had, but she was shy and I was looking for a high-energy dog who would love long hikes. She convinced me to go see her again.
So I sat down with Felicity and her foster mom. I didn't try to pet her. I let her come to me.
And then she walked over, wrapped her paws around my neck and gave me a hug.
In that moment, I knew, she picked me. ❤️
At the time, I had no idea how much this little dog had already been through. She was originally found as a stray in South Carolina and spent six months in a shelter before Freedom Fences and PAWS gave her a second chance and brought her to Pennsylvania.
She was terrified of leashes and collars. New people were scary. She had a lot to learn about being safe and trusting the people around her.
The first few months were HARD. It took months to get her house trained, and years for her to become comfortable with new people and new situations.
But little by little, she gained confidence. She learned to trust. And eventually, that scared little rescue dog became the goofy, confident, food and people obsessed dog you all know today. 😂
And somehow, that dog became the inspiration behind my entire business.
Eight years later, that shy little rescue dog is the face of Felicity's. And quite honestly, the reason I’ve learned more about dogs than I ever thought I would. 😂
Without her, Felicity's wouldn't exist.
I went to PAWS that day thinking I was going to choose a dog.
Turns out, she chose me.
And eight years later, I think it's pretty safe to say she made a really good choice. ❤
Happy Gotcha Week, Felicity. Thank you for choosing me.
