It's National Check The Chip Day!
August 15th is National Check The Chip Day! This is an important reminder to ensure your pet's microchip information is up-to-date. Microchipping is one of the best ways to help bring a lost pet home.

Think of it as your pet's permanent ID!

Why is it so important?
Proof of ownership: If your pet ever gets lost, a microchip can confirm they are yours.

Quick Reunions: Shelters and vet clinics scan for microchips, drastically increasing the chances of finding you.

Peace of mind: Knowing your pet has this protection offers invaluable comfort.

Even if your pet is chipped, take a moment today to Check the Chip!

Do you know your pet's microchip number?

Is your contact information current with the microchip registry? (New phone number? Moved? Don't forget to update!)

If you're unsure about your pet's microchip status or need to have one implanted, contact us today! We're here to help.

Help your dog build confidence at the vet with a Happy Visit—a 30-minute session designed to create positive, low-stress experiences.
Depending on your pet’s comfort level, a happy visit may include:

- Walking into the clinic and receiving treats
- Spending time calmly in the lobby or exam room
- Practicing stepping on the scale
- Gentle handling and positive interactions with staff
- Gradual exposure to equipment or sounds commonly experienced during appointments
- Cooperative Care Techniques

Each Happy Visit follows a doctor-directed plan and is led by Emily, our Lead Cooperative Care Technician. Every visit is tailored to your dog's individual comfort level and learning goals. For some pets, pre-visit medications may be recommended to help create the best possible learning experience.

These visits are especially helpful for pets who are nervous, anxious, fearful, or reactive during veterinary visits. By building confidence slowly over time, we aim to reduce stress and make future veterinary care safer and more comfortable for both you and your pet. The concepts we practice in the clinic will also help to strengthen the trust and communication between you and your pet even in the home setting.

Call us at 908-359-2000 to learn more or schedule your dog's Happy Visit!🐕

The summer heat is here, and with temperatures reaching over 100°F this week, it’s important to remember that your pet feels the heat differently than we do! ☀️🔥

Hot pavement can become dangerous quickly and may cause painful burns to your dog’s paw pads. A good rule of thumb: place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5–7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet.

A few ways to help your pets stay safe:
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌅 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🌳 Choose grass or shaded areas whenever possible
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car — even for a few minutes
🐶 Watch for signs of heat stress like excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or disorientation

Stay cool, stay safe, and help your pets enjoy the summer months! 💙🐾
