Good morning all. As you have already most likely heard, there was a positive case of Streptococcus Zooepidemicus, a bacterium that can cause severe pneumonia, recently diagnosed in Bozeman. Know Thy Dog, where the dog was being boarded, acted quickly and brought the affected dog to Bridger Veterinary Hospital for care, where he unfortunately passed. Strep Zoo is usually only fatal in immunocompromised dogs and so far, all other dogs at the facility have remained healthy and are in quarantine. Know Thy Dog has had excellent communication and we wanted to share the information they have passed along. Please call if you have any questions or concerns, or if your dog had boarded at Know Thy Dog in the past 3 weeks.
Attention KTD clients!
We’ve unfortunately have had a confirmed case of Strep Zoo of a dog who was last in the facility 10/9. Our Daycare is closed Oct 17–23 for deep cleaning and limiting exposure.
If your dog has been in the facility in the last three weeks, please contact your vet with this information to see what their recommendation is. We will also be reaching out directly to each owner whose dog has been at the facility during this time frame to ensure everyone is aware.
Boarding families: we will not be accepting any incoming dogs for this same duration.
Please closely watch your dog for any signs of illness and treat any symptoms (lethargy, coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, difficulty breathing, vomiting) as a medical emergency. Thank you for your attention and prompt responses in an effort to keep our guests and the Gallatin pet community as safe and healthy as possible💚
