Tails & Trails: The Unplanned Adventure!
We weren't looking for a trail today.
We were simply out for a drive when a small roadside path caught our attention.
So naturally, we stopped.
What we found was quiet lakeshore, fresh Maine air, sunshine breaking through the clouds, and plenty of new scents for Boomer to investigate.
No maps. No itinerary. No expectations.
Just a curious poodle, a winding path, and a beautiful place we might have otherwise driven right past.
Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones you plan.
They're the ones that find you.
🐾 Boomer conducted a full shoreline inspection. 🌲 Trail conditions: Excellent. 🌊 Lake conditions: Acceptable. 🍦 Pup cup: Already approved. ⭐ Adventure rating: 10/10. Plus Boomer was properly spoiled with that pup cup and pigs ear!

After a rainy morning adventure with the girls, it was Boomer's turn.
No trail maps. No big plans. Just a drive through Maine to see where the road takes us.
Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones you schedule—they're the ones that start with a tank of gas, a dog who wants to go, and a lunch stop at Amy's Place.
Boomer seems determined to supervise the entire journey from the back seat. 🐾🚗

🌧️🐾 Rain, Bridges & New Adventures 🐾🌧️
Today Penny and Minnie joined us for a rainy group walk, and while Mother Nature certainly gave us a challenge, we had a wonderful time.
The rain never let up, the trails were soaked, and by the end everyone—dogs and humans alike—was completely drenched!
Penny absolutely rose to the occasion. She confidently navigated the bridges, explored new surroundings, and took everything in stride. Despite the weather, she remained engaged, curious, and ready for whatever came next.
Minnie wasn't quite as convinced that walking in a downpour was the best way to spend her morning, but that's okay too. Confidence is built through experience, and every outing gives her another opportunity to learn, grow, and realize that new environments aren't so scary after all.
One of the things we love most about these adventures is that they aren't about perfection. They're about exposure, building resilience, strengthening the human-dog bond, and helping our dogs learn to work through real-world situations.
Today may have been wet, muddy, and a little chilly, but it was time well spent.
Sometimes the best training happens when the weather isn't perfect.

🐾 Tick Season Is Here in Maine 🐾

Tonight was a reminder of just how active ticks already are this season.
David walked less than 10 feet into the house from the car and found a tick already beginning to embed in his leg. And My father was also bitten a couple days ago and is now on meds as his bite has gotten infected.

Whether you hike trails daily or simply walk through your yard, ticks are becoming increasingly common throughout Maine — and they can affect both humans and dogs.

A few good habits can make a huge difference: • Daily tick checks for both dogs and people
• Check warm hidden areas like armpits, groin, ears, collars, and between toes
• Keep dogs on veterinarian-approved preventatives
• Shower/change clothes after hikes or wooded walks
• Watch for unusual fatigue, fevers, limping, or rashes after bites

As much as we love our outdoor adventures here at Mere Point Poodles, tick awareness has unfortunately become part of responsible trail life in New England.
Stay safe out there this season. 🌲🐾

Apparently our previous service and working dog update post disappeared without explanation from Facebook, so we are reposting and continuing our transparency archive for Mere Point Poodles.
One thing that matters deeply to us is documenting the real-world progression of the puppies and dogs produced through our program — including public access foundations, service dog training journeys, sport foundations, temperament development, and the incredible partnerships being built with their handlers.
We believe transparency matters.
Not every prospect follows the same path, and no ethical program can guarantee outcomes, but we are incredibly proud of the dogs currently working with their families and trainers in various stages of service work, public access preparation, therapy foundations, and companion partnerships.
Rather than polished perfection, we want this page to reflect authentic documentation: 🐾 training 🐾 real-world experiences 🐾 milestones 🐾 public outings 🐾 titles and evaluations 🐾 foundations to futures
To all of our families, trainers, and supporters — thank you for allowing us to continue sharing these journeys.
