🖤 Our boy Lurch has a brother! Allow us to introduce… Fester. 🖤

We adopted sweet Fester through the wonderful people at the Pixel Fund, who helped bring us together and begin what we already know will be a beautiful bond.

Fester happens to be a very special little kitten with his own handi-cat. Yep, pun completely intended. 🐈‍⬛ He is missing one of his back legs, which makes him the perfect addition to our family because Lurch is a tripod, too.

So now we have two beautiful black cats, six legs between them, and more personality than anyone probably needs. 😂🖤

What they may be missing in legs will never be missing in love. Both of these boys will receive all the care, patience, spoiling, and devotion we can possibly give them.

We cannot wait to watch Lurch and Fester get to know one another, find their rhythm, and hopefully become the very best of brothers.

Welcome home, Fester. You belong here. 🖤🐾

Help Wanted at our Northport location

HELP WANTED at our boarding kennel/dog daycare in NORTHPORT:

We are fast approaching fall. Some of our employees are headed off to college. We are so excited for them, but that leaves us short staffed.
If you are a reliable, responsible and hard worker, we would love to talk to you.

Part-time
-Must have experience with animals
-$16 start with raises as you learn the job, show up for your shift with no calling out, etc.

Pet care: Cleaning, feeding, caring for, walking, and exercising dogs. Cats too.
There will be clerical desk work. Check pets in and out. Cash owner invoices out. Call customers back. Enter notes on pets in our care. No social anxiety.
-You must love animals.
-You must have your own reliable transportation.
-You must show up to your shift. -Have patience and a kind heart. -Must be drama free and get along well with others.

There is an extreme heat index advisory for the next three days. We will take every precaution possible to keep your dogs safe while in our care. This may mean that they may come back to you slightly damp. The high humidity, high temperatures, can make drying them very difficult and dangerous at times. We will not risk anyone’s pet to make sure that they are dry. We do not use dangerous cage dryers. It’s all by hand. So we always know the stress level of your pets.
Humanity before vanity.
We wish you a wonderful Fourth of July weekend! Make sure that pet walks are short, water is plenty, and they get to have a cool place to stay.

Brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Shih Tzus are especially prone to heat stress during summer 🌡️.

Their short muzzles make cooling through panting difficult, risking overheating. Keep them cool, well-hydrated, and avoid intense play on hot days. Walk early morning or evening, take shorter walks, and use a harness instead of a collar to reduce airway pressure. Providing a cooling pad or indoor activities helps maintain comfort. Regular vet visits ensure their breathing stays healthy. 🐶💧
At Paws & Claws, we educate our staff about this and take every precautions can to make your flat faced pups as comfy as possible! Cool baths, towel dry or cool air dry, etc. 🥰
