What goes into your pet’s bowl matters more than many people realize. Pet food safety is about more than fancy packaging or trendy ingredients — it’s about research, quality control, nutritional balance, and long-term health.

🍖 **A few important things to know about pet food safety and nutrition:**

✔️ **Not all pet foods are created equal**
Larger, well-established companies often have:

* Veterinary nutritionists on staff
* Extensive feeding trials
* Research and published studies
* Strict quality control and safety testing
* Better consistency between batches

✔️ **Boutique, exotic ingredient, and grain-free diets can carry risks**
Some smaller “boutique” brands may focus heavily on marketing but lack the nutritional research and long-term testing larger companies perform.

In recent years, grain-free and boutique diets have been associated with concerns about **diet-associated dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)** in some dogs. While research is ongoing, this highlights why nutritional expertise and proper formulation matter.

✔️ **Homemade and raw diets are not automatically safer**
Improperly balanced homemade diets can lead to nutritional deficiencies, and raw diets can carry risks of bacterial contamination (Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria) for both pets and humans.

✔️ **Storage matters too!**

✨ cat hugs ✨

Now listen carefully. Not ALL cats enjoy being scooped up like furry little footballs. Some of us prefer:
✔️ forehead kisses
✔️ gentle chin scratches
✔️ sitting on your laptop during important work
✔️ silently judging you from across the room

But when a cat trusts you enough for cuddles?
That’s a pretty big deal ❤️

Cats may act independent, but we bond deeply with our people. We comfort you on hard days, supervise your snacks, wake you up before your alarm, and somehow always know when you need us most.

So today, celebrate your feline friend by:
🐾 Respecting their boundaries
🐾 Spending quality time together
🐾 Offering treats and enrichment
🐾 Giving gentle affection—IF approved by the cat committee

And if your cat allows an actual hug?
