Meet Tallulah - AKA The Gremlin. This girl wandered across Dr. Haskin's driveway at just the perfect moment before the work truck pulled out of the driveway. Somehow Molly and Candice were positioned perfectly in the truck to see her limp along out of the back window. After climbing under a vehicle to pull her out, we quickly realized that she was starving, covered in wounds, and severely dehydrated. She was running a fever, and just generally not doing well. Despite all of her wounds, she quickly scarfed down the small amount of food she was offered and was generally in good spirits. She was set up in a cage in quarantine, and over the next several months was treated for her wounds. She received numerous antibiotics, pain medications, a wound repair (or two) and almost daily fluids under the skin to pull her through. Unfortunately one of the wounds on her foot led to a bone infection in one of her toes with a secondary fracture, and that toe eventually had to be amputated.
We had a rescue lined up to take her once she was feeling better to finish out her rabies quarantine and find her the perfect home. However, during that time, while locked away in her quarantine cage, Dr. Haskin's husband fell in love her. He couldn't touch her but he knew she was going to be a fun little cat. And just like that, she found herself a perfect home all on her own.
After 4 months of only being handled by rabies vaccinated staff, a toe amputation, and too many medications to count, it's officially time to say "welcome to the Happy family, Gremlin."
We can only imagine the antics this spicy girl will get into. 💙💜
