We know it’s been a little quiet over here lately, so we wanted to give everyone a quick update!

For a while, we thought we were going to be moving, so we had a lot of things to get done around the properties. Between all the projects and getting everything in order, posting on social media took a bit of a backseat. We’re finally wrapping up those projects and are excited to start taking on more clients again!

We currently have LOTS of openings for training and are hoping to fill those spots up soon! Whether you’re looking to work on obedience, improve your dog’s behavior, build better communication, or strengthen the bond you share with your dog, we’re here to help you reach your goals.

Kaapo and I will also be getting back into making videos! We know so many of you enjoy watching his videos and seeing what we’ve been working on, so we’re excited to start sharing more of our training, projects, and adventures with you all again.

And don’t forget, Halloween is just around the corner! We’ll be having our Halloween Pack Walk and Dog Costume Contest! Everyone is welcome to come out, enjoy a walk with fellow dog lovers, and show off your pup’s best Halloween costume. The dog with the best costume will win a prize, so get creative and come join us for some Halloween fun!

Ready to get started with training? Contact us today to see how we can help you reach the goals you have for you and your dog(s). We’d love to talk with you about your needs and help you get started on the right path.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to working with more of you!

Let’s get back to work! 🐾

Good afternoon,

We are taking clients back in for dog training lessons. We were expected to move to North Carolina but we dont see that happening until next spring or summer. So I wanted to come on here and let people know that we have a lot of spots open for lessons. We just had 2 people sign up but we have plenty of spots available. We did stop taking in clients this summer so we could prep for moving and enjoy our time so we hope everyone had a great summer. Whether you need help with obedience lessons or behavior issues contact us today to see how we can help you reach whatever goals that you have for yourself and your dog(s)

TIP OF THE DAY: Make Nail Trimming Easier
Does your dog turn nail trimming into a wrestling match? You're not alone. The key to making nail trims easier is desensitization. Instead of forcing your dog through a nail trim, teach them that having their paws handled is a normal and rewarding experience.

The biggest mistake people make is trying to cut all four paws in one session. Don't rush it. Your goal is to build your dog's comfort and trust with the process.

Step 1: Start with holding the paw

Begin by simply holding your dog's paw.

If your dog pulls away, calmly continue holding the paw. Don't chase the paw or immediately let go. When your dog stops pulling and relaxes, release the paw and reward.

You can use a treat, praise, or a clicker.

Repeat this process with all four paws. Take your time and keep the sessions short.

For the first week, you may not cut a single nail — and that's okay. You're building the foundation.

Step 2: Introduce the clippers

Once your dog is comfortable with you holding their paws, start introducing the nail clippers.

Hold the paw, gently touch a nail with the clippers, and reward.

Don't cut anything yet.

Paw → clippers touch nail → reward.

Repeat this until your dog is comfortable with the clippers touching their nails.

Step 3: Start trimming

Once your dog is comfortable with the process, start taking off a very small amount of one nail.

Then reward and finish the session.

You don't need to trim every nail!

Maybe you only cut one nail a day. That's perfectly fine. As your dog becomes more comfortable, you can gradually do more.

Make it a weekly routine.

Pick one day of the week and make paw and nail handling part of your regular routine.

For example:

Week 1: Handle all four paws and reward. No nail cutting.

Week 2: Continue handling the paws and introduce the clippers. Maybe trim one nail.

Week 3: Trim a few nails if your dog is comfortable.

Continue building from there.

Some dogs may progress faster, while others may need more time. Don't worry about how long it takes. The goal is to teach your dog that nail trimming is something they can relax through.

Short, consistent sessions will get you much further than trying to force all four paws into one stressful session.

And remember: One successful nail is better than four stressful nails.

Make it a routine, take your time, reward the behavior you want, and build from there.

🐾 CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO A WELL-BEHAVED DOG 🐾

One of the biggest mistakes I see in dog training is waiting until there’s a problem before we start training.

Training should be proactive, not reactive.

Don’t wait until your dog is jumping on guests, pulling you down the street, bolting out the crate, ignoring their recall, or developing unwanted habits before you decide it’s time to train.

Start right away.

From the beginning, decide what behaviors you want from your dog — and be consistent about reinforcing those behaviors.

If you don’t want your dog jumping on people, don’t allow it sometimes and correct it other times.

If you want your dog to wait at the door, teach them to wait every time.

If you want a reliable recall, practice it before you desperately need it.

Dogs learn from what we consistently allow, reinforce, and practice. Your expectations have to be clear, and you have to follow through.

Training is a commitment. It isn’t something you do for a week and then forget about. It becomes part of how you communicate with your dog.

And the reward for that commitment?

👉 A dog that understands what you expect.
👉 Better communication between you and your dog.
👉 Fewer unwanted behaviors.
👉 More freedom because you can trust your dog.
👉 And ultimately, a well-behaved dog that is enjoyable to live with.

🐶 EASY TRAINING TIP: THE CRATE BOLT

Does your dog launch out of the crate the second you open the door?

Try this:

1️⃣ Wait until your dog is calm.

2️⃣ Slowly open the crate door.

3️⃣ If your dog tries to bolt out, close the door before they get out.

4️⃣ Wait for them to settle down again and repeat.

5️⃣ Continue doing this until you can open the door and your dog chooses not to rush out.

6️⃣ Once they remain calm, give them permission: “Okay!” and allow them to come out.

7️⃣ Reward them with something they enjoy — play, a treat, praise, or whatever motivates your dog.

Do this every single time your dog exits the crate.

You’re teaching your dog that the crate door opening doesn’t mean “GO!”

It means “Wait for permission.”

Be consistent, be patient, and follow through.

⏱️ Now here’s the challenge: How many days does it take your dog to stop bolting out of the crate?

Give it a try and let me know! 👇

Remember: Don’t wait for problems to start training. Teach the behaviors you WANT from the beginning.

🐕 Proactive training creates better dogs — and better relationships between dogs and their people.
