Meet Mayfly.
Mayfly came to us in May as an owner relinquishment. Her owners had been unable to get her to gain weight, and without the funds to continue searching for answers, they scheduled to euthanize her.
She was only 5 years old. The owners vet told them to reach out to us.
When Mayfly arrived, her body condition score was just 1 out of 9. She was loaded with worms, covered in lice, and so thin it was heartbreaking to look at her. But her weight wasn't our only concern. Her face had an almost chipmunk-like appearance, she had nasal discharge, and there was a large lump below her eye.
Our veterinarian took X-rays and sent them to Purdue University for review. Based on what they saw, Purdue recommended that Mayfly have a CT scan so they can determine exactly what is happening and what dental treatment she needs.
We've never asked (or even dreamed) of raising the money to send one of our rescues to Purdue for a procedure like this. But look at Mayfly now. ❤️ She has gained the weight she desperately needed, she is happy, and she is absolutely full of life.
She's only 5 years old!!
We've gotten her this far. Now we need help taking the next step.
