Wonderful friends of the Animal Rescue League of NH (ARLNH), Francine and Roger Jean, are generously matching donations made to the ARLNH, dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000 during NH Gives 2026! Roger, former Board Chair, and his wife Francine are long-time advocates of the ARLNH and its mission of helping over 2,000 pets and the people who care for them each year. In 2008, the ARLNH’s Feline Adoption Center was dedicated “Dillinger’s Dorm” in memory of the Jean’s beloved cat Dillinger. Happy National Pet Appreciation Week! 🐾

This week, we're celebrating the pets who make our lives brighter, happier, and full of unconditional love. Every animal has something special to offer, and we're lucky to spend our days caring for so many incredible pets while they wait for families of their own.

When Gretzky, a senior Bichon Frise, arrived at our shelter due to his owners facing housing issues, his world changed overnight. While we were sad to see him lose the home he knew, we were hopeful that a new chapter was waiting for him. And just 8 days later, that hope became reality.

Not every dog is as lucky. Many of the animals in our care wait weeks, months, or even longer for their chance to find a family. But for Gretzky, the wait was short, and we're so grateful. Congratulations to Gretzky and his new family. Thank you for giving this sweet senior the fresh start he deserves!

As you watch Gretzky come out of his shell, let his personality shine, and build trust with the people around him, remember that there are still many wonderful animals in our care waiting for their own happy ending.
