Meet Bubbles 💫
Our very first “Reset” visitor is here for the next two months, and we’re so excited to give her the time and care she deserves, body and mind.
Bubbles is coming from a lesson program, where she took care of every rider with patience and care. But like so many horses, her body eventually started to whisper (and then shout) that it needed something different.
Now it’s her turn.
Time to slow down.
Time to listen.
Time to restore.
We’ll be focusing on helping her feel better in her body, rebuilding comfort, and giving her the space to just be, before she moves on to her next chapter.
She is as sweet as they come, stay tuned 🤍

For me, it’s always about the eye. It tells it all.

A horse that doesn’t feel relaxed or safe will show it there first, before anything else. And honestly? Watching the eye is my form of self-preservation. I won’t get on unless I feel calm from them… and connection with me.

Because here’s what I’ve seen, horses can be “well trained” and still not truly with you. They’ll stop, turn, back up… go through the motions. But their eye? That tells the truth.

Are they with you… or are they scanning the outside world?

One exercise I love:Pick one shoulder—left or right—to lead from, and stay on that side.

Let’s say you choose the left. In the areas of the ring your horse feels safe, you’re on the inside of the arc or arena (between the middle of the ring and your horse’s shoulder). In the areas that feel more “scary,” you stay on that same left shoulder—but now you position yourself to the outside, placing yourself between your horse and what they’re concerned about.

You’re not just moving their body—you’re supporting their mind.

In the worried spaces, you become the buffer, but also can talk to them while they can still assess the situation. In the safe spaces, you help them find balance again.

It’s about noticing.Where do they feel confident?Where do they need you?

From there, you can ask for their attention in a way that makes sense to them—meeting them where their mind already is, instead of forcing it somewhere else.  And gradually over time they’ll trust that when you ask for their eye on you, they’ll be safe at the same time.

Balance matters… but feeling safe always comes first.

I don’t think this will ever get old… watching what can change in just ONE hour 🤯
Top photo ➡️ bottom photo. Same horse. Different body. Different balance.
And the best part? Seeing it stick the next day out in the paddocks… that’s the cherry on top 🍒
I’m so grateful to have the Lazaris Nerve Release Certification in my toolbox. It’s not about forcing posture — it’s about helping the horse feel safe enough in their body to choose a better way of being.
More ease. More alignment. More connection.
Always horse first. 💛

How does your horse feel about the bit?

MANGO BAY TRAINING HERE 🐴

Sweet Pea has only had a bit in her mouth about five times in her life, and that’s what excites me most. With her and Lawson, I get to do it right from the beginning.

I remember so many horses I’ve ridden over the years, heavy in one rein, leaning, running through the bridle, “no brakes.” At the time, it felt like just the way some horses were.

Now I see it differently.

So much of that comes from never truly taking the time to explain the bit… combined with imbalance in both the rider’s seat and the horse’s body.

I’ve had instructors tell me over the years that the horse should seek out your contact… I’m not sure I’ve ever truly felt the meaning of that until a few years ago. The bit should be a place of connection and communication and their mouth treated with respect.

Helping horses (and riders) discover that feeling has completely changed the way I approach training. When the body is organized and the communication is clear and thoughtful, everything gets lighter, but also, to me, feels more solid in a way.

So I’ll ask you…

What does the bit feel like to you and your horse?
