⭐️How old does my child need to be to START horseback riding lessons?⭐️
This is a question I get asked often, and my answer is typically 3–4 years old is a great starting point! Some may think that’s really young, but a that age, horsemanship lessons are an awesome way to get your child exposed to the environment and learn safe precautions, skills, responsibility, balance, & discipline.
Our lessons start from the ground up! We don’t just get on a horse and ride around and call it done. That’s not my style nor is there much benefit for rider or horse. There’s SO much more to horsemanship than sitting in a saddle! 🙌🏼💖🐴
From catching, leading, grooming, and tacking up to learning balance, body control, steering, and developing independence in the saddle, we work on building a solid foundation from the very beginning.
We do take age, maturity, independence, and attention span into consideration when opening spots in our lesson program. Every child learns and develops differently! And that’s OKAY!! That’s why my program is catered to each rider and their individual skills and interests!! We don’t read off a textbook. A strong foundation starts long before their feet ever touch the stirrups!
