Good afternoon! Meet Thunder (left) and Ripley (right)--Thunder is a 6 month-old German Shepherd and Ripley is a 6 month-old Bernese Mountain Dog. Both live in the same house, so you can just imagine puppies of this magnitude producing a lot of fun and a lot of stress all at the same time. While they have similar issues to work on, Thunder barks a lot and aggressively, aggressively takes treats, and pulls like there is no tomorrow. Ripley is a sweet girl who cannot control her impulse very well which makes her nippy and loves to jump and engage with everyone. After an intense first training session, both did very well and calmed down quite a bit. Keep up the great work, you two!

Good morning! Pawz 4 Peeps Dog Training graduated another AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class this Wednesday! All of the pups and owners did wonderfully, and we are so proud of each of them! Well done--Ickey (Golden Retriever), Murphy (Golden Retriever), Winnie (Doberman), Reggie (Golden Retriever), and Harrington (otherwise known as Harry--Shepherd/Labradoodle mix)! We hope to see you all in the AKC Canine Good Citizen Class in September!

Good morning! Meet Pooka Von Bear--he's a 12 week-old Chow Chow pup who is full of energy but has a habit of rough "play nipping" and sometimes nips when he is not getting his way. His family includes 3 other Chows in the family, and he loves to annoy them. While he is getting good structure and rules from his dog siblings, we learned to apply those same rules to his human family. He did very well during his first training session! Good evening! Meet Shadow--he's a 6 month-old Pit/Great Pyrenees mix pup who his as adorable as can be but sometimes does not know how powerful he is. He has a habit of treating his human siblings like his littermates which doesn't always fair well. After some intense training by his human siblings, Shadow really made some great progress during the first training session. Keep up the great work!

Good afternoon! Remember Ziggy (he's the black/white fellow in the middle on a leash)? This spirited young chap was a bit reactive when meeting other dogs. After 3 sessions of training focusing on desensitization, he made remarkable progress as evidenced by this picture. He learned how to appropriately greet and engage with other dogs. While these dogs were pretty big in this picture, he also engaged with smaller dogs and did great! We are soooooooo proud of you! Way to go, Ziggy!

Good morning! Remember Lucy? This older Wheaten Terrier mix did great in her training! Fully potty trained, full of confidence, and fun to be around! Her capstone included interacting with some pups (Harley and Sadie) to see how she would do, and she did great. We did discover a bit of resource guarding that we nipped in the bud, but her dog moms will have to continue to work on with engagements with other dogs in the future, but they know how to approach it and handle it. We are sooooooo proud of you! Way to go, Lucy!

Good morning! Remember Loki? This senior pup has been working hard at upgrading from an emotional support dog to a full-fledged service dog. I made one final visit on Tuesday morning with Loki and his dog dad at the medical facility, and Loki settled in nicely! He knows what to do, where to park himself, and knows when to engage when his dog dad's anxiety begins to rise. His last step was to successfully pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, which he passed with flying colors on Wednesday! We are soooooooo proud of you! Way to go! Congrats, Loki!

Good morning! This Wednesday, we graduated 2 more AKC Canine Good Citizen students--Bobby and Loki! They both did so well on their test! We also had the pleasure of pinning Loki's service dog tags on him after he successfully passed the CGC test--the last step for in his training! Both pups and dog parents celebrated with some treats and refreshments after the test! The evening ended with a little play time, to include Harley who helped with the testing. Congrats to all of you! Well done!

Good morning! On occasion, I have clients that reach out to me because life circumstances put them into situations in which they have to make very difficult decisions. Meet Maverick (white face) and Beaux (dark face)--they are 1.5 year-old Boxer littermates who need new homes. Their dog parents have had occupation changes that now require them to travel extensively. They do not feel right constantly putting them in a kennel while they are away on travel. They have tried to find any suitable alternative so they can keep them to no avail. This is a heartbreaking decision for them to make but they want them to go to a good home--preferably together but not required. I have personally trained these guys, and they are good dogs. Please forward this information throughout your circles to get the widest dissemination. If you are interested in Maverick and/or Beaux, please call 832-687-5613. Please, no negative comments--they will be deleted. Unless you have walked a day in their shoes, there is no place for "armchair quarterback" comments.
