Good morning! Pawz 4 Peeps started a new AKC Canine Good Citizen Course on Wednesday! Here are our new students: Harry (German Shepherd/Labradoodle mix--top left), Rex (Golden Retriever--top right), Winnie (Doberman--bottom left), and Reggie (Golden Retriever--bottom right). All are previous S.T.A.R. Puppy Course graduates, so most of the dogs recognized each other, and this made training all together a bit easier. All fur faces did a great job on their first training session! They will be testing on September 30. Keep up the great work, puppers!

For those of you who could not attend the CGC Course but still want an opportunity to test your pup, the testing date has changed to September 30 (originally scheduled for September 23). I will update the event so you can see the new date and sign up if you are interested!

Good morning! Pawz 4 Peeps started a new AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Course on Wednesday! Here are our new students: Forrest (Beagle/Hound mix - left) and Stella (King Cavalier Spaniel - right). We also have a new pup that will be joining us next week--Daisy (Yorkiepoo - not pictured). They have a lot of "puppy energy" but really know how to buckle down when it's time. Keep up the great work, puppers!

Pawz 4 Peeps Dog Training in BEAVERcreek is toying with the idea of expanding our service line to training beavers. What do you all think? Worth pursuing? I can think of a few beavers from Huber Heights and Texas that need some "course correcting" on their behavior...

In all seriousness, what Buc-ee's has done against Beaver's Mini Mart is absolutely deplorable. Having grown up in my father's business, Dufour's Market in Madawaska, Maine, a small Mom and Pop business that existed for 50 years, I can totally relate. Small businesses cannot match big corporations in distribution, supply, and profit margins, so leave them alone--they are just trying to earn a living! I stand with my fellow small businesses in Beavercreek to support Beaver's Mini Mart and boycott Buc-ee's. I have only been to the new Buc-ee's once but will not be returning. I also travel quite a bit and will bypass EVERY Buc-ee's on my travel from here on out. I'd rather spend $0.30 more a gallon at a local Mom and Pop place for gas than to line the pockets of these fat cats...

Good afternoon! Meet Macie--she's a 1.5 year-old Great Pyrenees mix who is most adorable but very skittish around new people, other dogs, and in new environments. If this tell you anything, this picture was taken at the end of a 1-hour session, and she had warmed up some. She will need lots of training and exposure training to boost her confidence and decrease her anxiety. Please encourage this big girl to keep working at it!

Good afternoon! Meet King Mocha--he's a 17 month-old Schnoodle who is as cute as a button but an overall wild man! He is what we would call "socially aggressive"--meaning, he is so sociable and wants to interact with EVERYONE and EVERYTHING and will demand attention if he is not getting enough of it. He is very smart and picked up training very quickly--a very successful first day! Keep up the great work, King Mocha!

Good afternoon! Meet Rutabega (Ruttie for short)--she's a 5 year-old Maltese/Poodle mix who is very loud and mouthy when meeting new people and encountering new sounds. After a quick evaluation, it was determined she has quite a bit of impulse and anxiety and lacks confidence. After the first session, she made tremendous progress. She was a lot calmer, less loud, and did not react as much to new sounds and people. Keep up the great work, Ruttie!

Good afternoon! Remember Sadie? She's the spotted miniature poodle to the left. Her brother Arlo, the Bichon/poodle mix, is on the right. Arlo trained with us last year to help control his anxiety and decrease his Olympic jumping during times of stress. His new sister has changed the dynamic with her bold and bossy self. Barking became an issue for both of them. This week, we really drilled home the essence of "good quiet" in their home environment, and they both did great! We are soooooooo proud of you both! Way to go, Sadie and Arlo!

Good afternoon! Remember Ruby? This timid young Goldendoodle has finally started coming out of her shell! After several training sessions, she now recalls much more effectively (especially at the dog park), relaxes and sleeps more, and loves to hang out with other dogs. We still have some work to do, and once she is therapeutic on her new medication, we will continue to challenge her as we increase her threshold! We are soooooooooo proud of you! Way to go, Ruby!
