I live in American and AKC does in fact recognize Merle. You are even able to show Merle’s here. So before you comment do your research.

Another great example of the difference between “American chihuahua” look and the “import chihuahua” look.

Elvis is a beautiful little long coat Merle that comes from American bred lines.
Flash is a gorgeous lil chocolate and tan that comes from two parents imported from Taiwan and Poland. I know a lot of people came for me in my last post and I’m sure it was my wording or whatever you want to think. I’m not a “backyard breeder” I’m not just making things up. From my experience and other breeders experience these are the facts I know.

Other countries mix breeds more closely to get a certain look. From my knowledge mostly the Pekingese and Japanese chin is close in the lines of the imports in order to get the more extreme faces and larger eyes.

American bred chihuahuas tend to look more like Elvis, applehead and beautiful but not quite as extreme as the imports.

You can all come for me all you want but my stance still stands on the differences between the two. I wish someone would have posted this information for me before I started breeding or getting into the imports just so I had the knowledge. 💙 I’m happy to answer any questions in my inbox
