It breaks my heart every time a rescue furbaby goes to the rainbow bridge 💔 2 days ago, Murphy passed away. We rescued him 10 years ago and he had the most wonderful forever Daddy, Tony. Thank you, Tony, for giving Murphy a wonderful home & life. ❤️
From Murphy’s forever Daddy- 💔💔💔
It is with a very heavy heart that I share that today at 12:20 pm my Murphy crossed the rainbow bridge while in my arms. I had the vet from Hearts and Halos come to the house to help with the transition.
I always knew that I would know that it was time but I thought that we had a few more weeks together until I came home from work on Monday and Murphy could barely stand, was hunched over, and could not get comfortable. Murphy was such a happy boy up until a little over 2 years ago when Darla passed away and Murphy seemed to get depressed and started to age quickly. After about 4 months I thought that bringing Sophie into our lives would help but it didn’t. About a year ago Murphy was diagnosed with dementia, hearing loss, and near blindness. The one thing he always did was get very vocal when it was time to eat and he would bark at me while I would get his food ready. I noticed about a month ago that he wasn’t coming into the kitchen for meals but I had to get him out of his bed and place him right in front of his food for him to eat.
Murphy came into my life over 10 years ago from the Joy in my heart foundation. I saw his picture and knew that I had to meet him. He was brought over the next day and never left. It was not easy at the beginning. Murphy was estimated to be about 5 years old, was found as a stray from the streets, and came to me with minimal social skills and a fractured pelvis. I took him to an orthopedic surgeon who told me that the fracture was untreatable and to keep him as comfortable as possible. The muscle to Murphy’s bladder did not completely close so he had an issue with urine leakage. We solved that right away with washable belly wraps which he willingly wore. That way he could go on the furniture and bed with no worries. The first 3 months he was with me he didn’t want to have anything to do with Darla or me. One day that changed and he wanted to sit next to me, cuddle, give me kisses, and cuddle with Darla.
He was the most photogenic little guy and I’m so glad that I have so many pictures of him, many which show him to seem to be smiling. I know that he was a happy little boy and Murphy knew that his dad loved him. Murphy’s life had his challenges but I know that for his final 10 years he knew that he was loved and safe. He is now pain free, running and jumping with his sister Darla. Dad loves you my MooMoo until we are together again.
