This summer, we had the absolute pleasure of providing the horses for some amazing groups of campers! ❤️🐴
Seeing so many smiles and first experiences in the saddle reminded us why we love what we do. We're incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be a small part of their summer and hope each camper left with a few unforgettable moments.

To everyone who has chosen to ride with us, thank you. Whether you traveled across the country or just down the road, your support means more than you'll ever know. Every booking, every smile, every shared photo, and every kind word helps keep this dream alive.
Most of all, we're incredibly thankful for our horses. They give their hearts every day, carrying our guests safely through these beautiful Kentucky mountains with the patience and kindness they're known for. They're the true stars of Middle Fork Stables, and we're so grateful for each of them.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our small business and letting us to share these incredible horses and this little piece of Kentucky with you. We can't wait to welcome many more familiar and new faces down the trail. ❤️🐴

🌞 Heat & Humidity Update 🌞
With the extreme heat and humidity expected throughout the rest of this week and into the weekend, some already scheduled trail rides may need to be rescheduled to early morning or postponed for the safety of our horses.

🐴 Horses overheat much faster than people, especially when they're working. A good rule of thumb is that when the temperature (°F) plus the humidity (%) equals 150 or more, conditions can become dangerous for horses—particularly seniors or those with medical conditions and most of our guest horses are seniors or have special medical needs, and asking them to work in dangerous heat simply isn't worth the risk. Heat-related illness can develop quickly, even in horses that appear healthy.

We'll be monitoring the forecast daily and reaching out to anyone affected as soon as possible. We know schedule changes can be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility. We'd much rather postpone a ride than put one of our horses in an unsafe situation.

Thank you for helping us keep our amazing horses healthy, happy, and able to continue sharing these beautiful trails with everyone. ❤️🐴

School is officially out, so we’ve added a few more spots to this week’s lesson schedule with HW Riding Lessons at Middle Fork Stables! 🐴💕

Available lesson times:
Thursday: 4pm & 5pm
Friday: 8am, 9am (30 mins), 4pm & 5pm

There is nothing more rewarding than watching these kiddos — and adults too — grow in confidence, learn new skills, and progress each week. Riding lessons teach so much more than just how to ride a horse. They teach patience, responsibility, perseverance, confidence, communication, and respect. The lessons learned in the saddle often carry over into everyday life. ❤️

🌦️ Middle Fork Stables Weather Policy 🐴
Your safety—and our horses’ well-being—always come first. While we do our best to ride in a variety of conditions, there are times when weather requires us to reschedule.
We do ride in light to moderate rain as long as there is no thunder, lightning, or high winds. A little rain won’t stop a good trail ride!
However, we will delay or cancel rides in the event of:
⛈️ Thunderstorms or lightning
🌪️ Severe weather or high winds
🌧️ Heavy, steady rain that impacts trail safety
🥶 Extreme temperatures (hot or cold) that could be unsafe for riders or horses
If weather becomes an issue, we will reach out as soon as possible to reschedule your ride. We always try to give plenty of notice, but Kentucky weather can change quickly, and sometimes decisions are made close to ride time.
We appreciate your understanding—this helps us protect our horses, our guests, and the quality of your experience on the trail.
