🌧️ WEEKEND WEATHER WATCH | OCTOBER 9–11 🐾

Poppy & Company is closely monitoring Tropical Depression Nine and the potential for significant weather impacts across the Gulf Coast this weekend, particularly Friday evening and Saturday.

Current forecasts indicate that this system may strengthen into a hurricane as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast. While the exact track and local impacts can — and likely will — continue to change over the next several days, we are already making preparations to ensure the safety of our clients, their pets, and our team.

If you currently have services scheduled with us Friday through Sunday and your travel plans may be changing because of the weather, please reach out as soon as possible. Early notice allows us to adjust routes and make sure every pet has a safe and reliable care plan in place.

Clients in coastal and flood-prone areas may experience schedule modifications or cancellations if conditions make travel unsafe. We will communicate directly with affected clients as the forecast becomes clearer.

At this time, Poppy & Company will not be accepting additional weekend bookings for October 9–11 so that we can focus our resources on our currently scheduled families and remain flexible as conditions develop.

As always, we will never ask a member of our team to travel through flooded roads, dangerous winds, evacuation areas, or other unsafe conditions.

Stay safe, keep an eye on official weather updates, and give those hurricane-sniffing pups an extra treat from us. 🐶🌧️🤍

🌀 WEATHER WARNING FOR PET PARENTS 🐾

Don’t wait until the weather gets bad to take care of your pets!

With potentially severe weather moving into our area beginning Friday, we encourage all pet parents to plan ahead.

💊 Check your pet’s medications NOW.
If your pet is running low on any prescription medication, please contact us before Friday so we can get those refills taken care of.

🐾 If your pet needs to be seen, please schedule that visit as soon as possible.
Don’t wait until the storm is here to address a medical concern that could have been handled ahead of time.

🏠 Prepare your pets for the storm:
• Make sure you have enough food and medications
• Keep pets indoors during severe weather
• Make sure collars and microchip information are up to date (stop by if you need a microchip placed)
• Have a safe place for your pets to stay if you lose power or need to evacuate

Most importantly—please don’t wait until the last minute. Once severe weather arrives, travel may become difficult or unsafe, and veterinary services may be limited.

📞 Call Abel Veterinary Clinic as soon as possible for prescription refills or appointments before Friday.

🍂 Cozy Critter Season has officially arrived at Poppy & Co.

October means cooler walks, porch weather, pumpkins, Halloween shenanigans and approximately 400 photos of your pets looking adorable in the fall leaves.

All month long we’re celebrating the animals who make our days a little brighter — while talking pet wellness, safety, adoption and everything that goes into caring for them like family.

Reliability in pet care means something a little different to me.

It means that when you leave town, go to work, spend the day at the hospital, take the vacation you’ve been planning for months, or simply need another set of hands—you shouldn’t have to wonder whether the person caring for your pets is going to show up.

Because these aren’t “just pet sitting visits.”

That’s your home.

That’s your baby.

That’s the little face waiting at the window, the senior pet who needs medication on time, the puppy who desperately needs their potty break, the cat who absolutely WILL file a formal complaint if dinner is late. 😂

You trusted us with something incredibly personal.

And I take that seriously.

Over the last year, Poppy & Co has worked through packed schedules, staffing changes, Alabama summer heat, storms, pregnancy, a brand-new baby, hospital stays and more unexpected curveballs than I could possibly count.

There have absolutely been moments when people have looked at me and said, “Madeline… why don’t you just cancel the visits?”

Because I made a commitment.

And when life gets complicated behind the scenes, my goal is that our clients never have to carry that stress with us.

We rearrange schedules.

We call in backup.

We communicate.

We coordinate.

And when every other option has been exhausted, I grab my keys and go myself.

Sometimes that has meant managing an entire visit schedule personally. Sometimes it has meant coordinating pet care from a hospital room. Sometimes it has meant answering client messages from New Orleans while caring for my daughter. Once upon a time it meant completing upwards of 75 visits a week during an Alabama summer.

Not because pet sitting is “just a job.”

Because the animals waiting for us don’t know that someone called out.

They only know we’re supposed to come.

That’s the heart behind Poppy & Company.

You matter.

Your pets matter.

Your home matters.

And the commitment we make to your family matters.

Pet care is an enormous responsibility, and we believe it deserves to be treated like one.

Rain or shine, busy season or slow season, easy week or absolute chaos—

we show up. 🐾🤍
