This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Prescription policy update:

We are making important changes to better serve you and your pets!

To provide faster service and ensure the safest care, we will no longer be processing prescription request sent directly from online pharmacies, such as Chewy, PetMeds, Costco, Walmart or other outside/online pharmacies.

Instead, you may:
✔️Request prescriptions online through MyVCA (Vetsource)
✔️Pick up select medications in-house
✔️Request a written prescription to take to the pharmacy of your choice.

Why?
✔️It is a safer way to verify and track medications.
✔️There are fewer delays or miscommunications.
✔️It allows more time for your pet’s care and ensures all prescriptions are reviewed by your care team.

🚨🐾 Pet Poison Prevention Week/Month🐾🚨

Many everyday items in our homes can be dangerous to dogs and cats — even if they seem harmless to us. Things like certain foods, medications, plants, cleaners, and even sugar-free gum can pose serious risks.

This week is a great reminder to:
• Keep medications and vitamins out of reach
• Store cleaners and chemicals securely
• Be mindful of toxic foods like chocolate, grapes, onions, and xylitol
• Check your plants before bringing them home
• Save the Pet Poison Helpline number: (800) 213-6680

If you ever think your pet may have gotten into something they shouldn’t, call us right away. Quick action can make all the difference. 💚

Let’s work together to keep our pets safe at home! 🐶🐱

🐕🇺🇸 Happy K9 Veterans Day! 🇺🇸🐕

Today we honor the courageous military working dogs who have served alongside our armed forces with loyalty, bravery, and unwavering dedication.

K9 Veterans Day commemorates the official establishment of the U.S. Army K9 Corps on March 13, 1942. These incredible dogs have served in roles ranging from patrol and detection to search and rescue — protecting service members and saving countless lives.

Their service, sacrifice, and partnership deserve recognition and gratitude. ❤️

Join us in thanking all military working dogs — past and present — for their heroic contributions.

If you know a veteran (two- or four-legged!), we’d love to recognize them in the comments. 🐾

🌎🐾 Happy World Wildlife Day! 🐾🌎

Today we celebrate the incredible animals that share our planet — from the smallest pollinators to the largest land mammals. World Wildlife Day is a reminder of how important conservation, habitat protection, and responsible stewardship are to the health of our ecosystems.

Wildlife plays a vital role in maintaining balance in nature, and even small actions can make a big difference — supporting conservation efforts, respecting natural habitats, and making sustainable choices all help protect species for future generations.

As animal lovers, we’re grateful for the opportunity to care for pets while also appreciating the beauty and importance of wildlife everywhere. 💚

Tell us in the comments — what’s your favorite wild animal? 🦅🦋🐘

🐾 Happy International Rescue Cat Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating the incredible rescue kitties who have found their forever homes — and the compassionate people who made it happen. Every rescued cat has a story, and through patience, love, and proper veterinary care, they get the second chance they deserve.

Rescue cats often make the most loyal, loving companions. Whether they came from a shelter, a foster home, or were found as a stray, their resilience is truly inspiring.

If you’ve adopted a rescue cat, we’d love to see them! Share a photo and tell us their story in the comments. 🐱💛

And if you’re thinking about adding a feline friend to your family, consider adoption — you might just meet your perfect match.

Happy Dog Biscuit Day!

Today we’re celebrating one of your dog’s favorite things—biscuits! Whether crunchy, soft, or homemade, treats are a great way to reward good behavior and show a little extra love.

Just a reminder to keep treats in moderation and choose options that are safe and healthy for your pup. Now excuse us while we hand out a few extra “good dog” snacks. 🐾💛
