Dear Clients,

We are sending this message in the spirit of full disclosure.

We all know that humans get colds in the fall and winter. Dogs do too.

It is that time of year when some people get fall colds. Regardless of how well we take care of ourselves, it inevitably happens.

The same holds true for dogs. Canine colds can be highly contagious and are commonly referred to as kennel cough.

We have been informed that 3 dogs are not feeling well and will be staying home from day care until they are feeling better. To put that number into perspective, we have over 150 dogs in our Dog Zone community.

If you notice that your dog is not feeling well, please keep them home and do not bring them to day care. We ask that they stay at home for a minimum of a week to insure they are no longer contagious.

Please be aware that most dogs do not exhibit symptoms, as in a cough, while they are calm and relaxed. Symptoms become more noticeable when they are active, or put pressure on their collar when pulling against a leash.

We ask that you check to make sure your dog is up to date on their Bordetella vaccine, as a vaccinated dog has a higher level of protection than an unvaccinated dog.

It is important that all owners understand that the Bordetella vaccine is not 100% effective and your dog may still get a respiratory infection.

We will be doing our part by maintaining our cleaning and disinfecting routines.

Thank you for being willing to do your part to help keep the dogs healthy and happy at day care!

We appreciate all of you and your continued support of our small business.

Hank, Sonny, Wrigley and Maizey are all practicing their ‘place’ command.

‘Place’ is one of our favorite commands that we train, as it allows dogs to be present without being the center of attention.

One of our favorite applications for the ‘place’ command is when a family sits down to eat a meal. A trained dog can be on its ‘place’ somewhere away from the dining table, which allows the people to eat in peace.

If you think our training at Dog Zone would be beneficial to you and your dog, please give us a call at 269.965.7212.

We would be happy to help!

Taddy is here to introduce October’s frozen Kong flavor—Peanut Butter Pumpkin Pie.

Our pie is made up of peanut butter and puréed pumpkin topped off with some whipped cream.

If your dog attends day care at Dog Zone and you’d like them to get a treat during quiet time, just let us know and we will make it happen for $5.

We will have this recipe available the entire month of October.
