Been a long week last week but got most of the animals ready for winter weather. Still have more to do but got the chicken coop completely insulated with old feed bags stuffed with straw and the run lined with feed bags to cut out the wind. Pigeon have gotten straw on their floors to help keep their toes warm and bags stapled around their cages and roofs. While quail got bags covering their cage and a tote with some straw for them to lay in they absolutely love that tote and hardly ever leave it. And duck cage has been covered with only the front slightly open for airflow. Again these are just temporary set ups as we go into winter their housing will change in the spring/summer when the weather is nice again. But its too late in the year right now to build the new barns, runs, and coops i rather have the birds and bunnies safe for winter vs trying to subject them to the cold in buildings and runs we were unable to complete before snow hits. Ive been planning how are new set up will look and how to build it for awhile now we are super excited to start it but its way too windy, rainy, and cold right now to get anything started without potentially destroying the things we are intending to make. But for now the animals are staying warm and enjoying having more of their equipment back in a somewhat familiar way. Its also taking me a bit longer to get through all the unpacking and getting things put away in their proper place since my kids came home sick and passed on their cooties lol. My immune system is junk so it takes me longer to fight off a normal cold or illness but im pushing through to make sure everyone has what they need daily and more.
