Summer growing can be challenging but we’ve been busy since the freeze replanting with more diversity and moving forward with experimental projects in organic and regenerative farming.

So far this summer……

🌱 The Moringa trees have made a great comeback after the January freeze. We have fresh and dried for sale.

The pineapples that all froze, finally started sprouting pups! We are replanting but it may be 2027 before we have fruit. 🍍

The dragonfruit that we rescued was big enough to prune and propagate. Might have a few this year. We’ve got rooted cuttings available now.

The food forest trees suffered, but most survived and sprouted new growth. We replanted the ones that didn’t make it with more cold hardy choices!

The mobile pig tractor and the Berkshires to root up invasive grass is slow but effective. It’s also a lot of fun! We’ve started construction on the second and third pens. 🐖 🐖

Sweet potatoes, luffa, strawberry guava, shampoo ginger, diakon radishes, bananas and sunflowers are all producing.

The comfrey is struggling in this heat but we’ve been growing and making our own fertilizer as we work towards totally organic.

And yes…. We are preparing the field for replanting blueberries! 🫐

Happy Fourth of July!

Broken pipes don’t take holidays, but at least I’ve got a good leak detection team on site today.

We are not open for the 2026 Blueberry U PIC season.

Unfortunately, the January freeze did so much damage we’ve made the decision not to open this year. We will replant, regrow, recover and rebuild.

Please find other local farms to support this season! https://floridafarmfinder.com/.

Follow us on the socials to see what we are planning for 2027

03/18/2026

I’m still not ready to announce if we will open or not this season. We suffered a lot of damage from the freeze and may skip this season while we recover, replace, regrow and rebuild!

But…please go visit our blueberry and strawberry neighbors and friends who are open. The farming community is a shrinking one and we ALL need your support!!! Whitehead's Blueberry Farm U-Pick & Lake Buffum Farms are both open this season!

This season we should have opened the fields for ice skating, not u-pick…..

The January freeze wreaked havoc on the bushes and irrigation and we lost all the fruit……Since then a few new blooms and leaves have been sprouting. 🫐🫐

But Old Man Winter isn’t done with us yet!!!

Last night we hit 28 and I’m expecting the same tonight.

Sorry Phil, but I’m over this. 🥶🥶🫐🫐
