The Washington County SPCA shelter is an independent non-profit (501c3) organization that takes in ALL local cats and dogs, regardless of health, breed, age, etc. and exists solely on the donations of our generous and caring supporters. We are not affiliated with nor receive funding from Washington County or national organizations. We are the community's ONLY open access shelter, and we offer low-cost spay/neuter vouchers, and collaborate with other animal assistance groups to actively promote suitable animal adoptions and transports.

🚨 CAT FRIENDLY DOG ALERT! 🚨

We get asked this ALL the time:
“Are they cat friendly?” 🐱

For Thelma Lou, the answer is YES! ❤️

This 2-year-old Dalmatian mix loves attention, snuggles, running in the backyard, and apparently… cats! 😉

Thelma Lou sleeps through the night in her kennel and is working hard on her “Down” because she LOVES jumping up to say hello. 😂

She isn't food aggressive, but she can get a little jealous when another dog is getting attention. And because she can be a little enthusiastic with her greetings, she’d do best in a home without babies or toddlers.

Thelma Lou is currently in foster care, so if you'd like to meet this sweet girl, please call the shelter at 918-336-1577 to arrange a meet & greet! 📞❤️

You read the bios.
You keep looking.

🧈 BUTTERBALL UPDATE! 🧈

Our sweet Butterball is healing. ❤️‍🩹

He’s still terrified of a lot of things. New places? Scary. Public spaces? VERY scary. But slowly, he’s learning.

It takes Butterball time to warm up, but when he does, he loves you completely. And apparently, he may even take his job as your protector very seriously. 🥰

He’s dog-friendly. Cat-friendly. Housebroken. And, with patience, he’s making progress.

But here's what makes THIS FOSTER extra special…

The cat curled up beside Butterball is Kenzie, who recently needed a tail amputation and is also being medically fostered by the SAME person.

They didn't just open their home once. They opened it twice.

Two animals who needed help.

Two animals getting to heal.

ONE INCREDIBLE FOSTER.

We can't thank them enough. ❤️🐾

We already knew Artemis was pretty great.

But it’s always nice when someone takes a dog out for the day and comes back saying…

Artemis loved his Doggie Day Out!
✔️ Great with a toddler
✔️ Gentle with treats
✔️ Enjoyed the water
